By 'tin' I mean add some solder to both the wire & the terminal separately first.

I usually tin the wire first, whilst the solder is semi solid (hot) I flatten the wire to make it resemble the size of the deans terminal. Then hold the wire to the deans terminal & heat it from the underside of the deans terminal until the solder flows (10 seconds).

You really need a 50w + iron to make it easy (I use a 100w soldering station).

Also, I always plug a spare opposing plug half to the pins (plugged in half way) to help remove excess heat from the deans housings, they can melt if your hold heat on them for too long.

Keep the tip of your iron clean!

Wet a sponge and run the tip across it before adding fresh solder to the tip (the tip should look shiny), I kind of go: clean tip, tin the tip, heat the item - add solder -, once the wire or terminal is tinned - clean the tip - re-tin the tip - hold the joint together, add heat & voila!

I use on of these to hold everything in place & prevent hot fingers:

Fully understand all that you said Ross - also did it exactly as you said, just cant seem to get the wire to stick to the plugs, the solder wont go over and set. I think theres just way to much wire.

Make sure you 'wet out' the wire completely with solder.

I ordered a whole heap of hpi drift slicks to try out.. They run well. Can't use them in any comps though as it turns out there copies. They go on 26mm rims.
If anyone wants a set brand new sealed Cheap shoot me a text on 0431761322 I'm located in carramar. Cheers

rc market -site is slow but has a good range.

rc cars & trucks, rc helicopters & planes - a main hobbies -an american site owned by an aussie, plenty of racing and basher gear plus planes and heli`s.

As for local shops, yes stanbridges is a bit exxy-a bit of advice tell them you are a club member ie;precc and you will get a discount.

If you are looking for local racing gear go to ryper hobbies in canningvale and speak to either dave or josh as both are racers and are the owners.
They will give the best discounts of all the shops and if they dont have it they will get it in for you.
