hooking up to the standard computer
Hi i went to maximum motorsport and they quoted me approx $1100 to tune my my02 rex with the standard computer.
Is there a way i can buy the cable and get into the computer with the right software myself? Or am i better off putting in a aftermarket add-on?

I guess you are talking about ECUTek? If I was you I wouldn't play around with anything myself. Let the pros do it.
If your not going to mod your car silly than a re-flash (ECUTek or Verso) will do the trick fine. Plenty of gains without the cost of a full Plug and Play ECU. Enjoy! |

Ummm, how much experience do you have with computers and engine tuning? Unless you have a decent knowledge of fule/ignition maps and a dyno to tune it on...Is it really worth possibly blowing up your enigine for $1100?
Don't get me wrong, some guys on here have done it very successfully... Just some friendly advice, up to you in the end though...
