Well then Tuna let's talk business...

What Motec are you running?, what should I be looking at to support the 08? and who in Perth can actually tune Motec's to the correct level?

Have a look in the mechanicals section - There are a couple of Motec tuners.

You can wire any goldbox into the 08 - M800 is one option. M880 is probably a bit advanced unless you're wanting the extra features.

m800 is the only ecu worth considering, the m880 is identicle, apart from the milspec connector (which you need special tooling to crimp with) and it supports an extra 3mb of onboard logging, which doesnt justify the price difference.

a gold box is probably the best option in the long term, but you can use a current model version 9/10 PNP board (just released from motec) which will give you the least headache.

sean at all-star can tune them, just make sure its on the latest version software.
basic features you will need are- DBW enable (unless you wait for a 08 spec-c manifold) and VVT enable.
optional features i'd recommend are- 1mb logging and wideband lambda.

all up, it makes the motec an expensive piece of equipment + tuning, but the end results are better then factory if you give it the time.

'08 STi ECU is very different from '06/07 (and before)....SI Drive etc, etc.
Also '08 STi has VVT on exhaust valves.
'08 STi does not have a twin scroll turbo.
ECUTek is the only available reflash for '08 STi at the moment (and for the forseeable future)...there are two ECUTek tuners in WA...Maximum Motorsport and Race Torque.
Cannot comment on compatability of MoTeC or Autronic, though I understand one of the Oz-spec MY08 STi's currently doing the dealer display circuits is going to Autronic.
When getting advice on upgrading the '08 STi ECU, be sure you understand the difference between "should be" and "can do".

08 STI = CANBUS and as mentioned by Nauli only Ecutek have a flash for it currently. The great thing about the 08 is you get Si-Drive which means three different and switchable on the fly maps to play with.

ECUTek (MMS) only re-map "Sport" and "Sport Sharp"
