my m800 is on its way now to be converted from an 03 to 08 sti board. the guys at motec have been working closely with the STI japan GroupN program to get the ecu to a finished state and there are 08 sti subaru rally cars already running development version of the PNP board. not long now

Wow, many thanks to all those who contributed. What started as a few simple questions now has me asking many more. I think I'll sit tight till the end of 08 and see what products are available then, but more importantly, which ones have been tested and proven to give the results I want.

Thanks all.

The MoTeC M800 PNP should be available to purchase now, mine is already upgraded.

These are the prices from the CAPA website, but they charge drug money, so you should be able to source them cheaper.

28110 13001 M800 ECU $ 3,527.70
28116 M800 VARIABLE CAMSHAFT CONTROL $ 471.24
28112 M800 DRIVE BY WIRE $ 543.05

Plus install (half an hours work?) and tuning.
Like I said, those prices stirke me as crackpipe. MoTeC quoted me:

Quote:
The cost of an OEM changeover is normally around $400 but in this case you would also need to have the variable cam and drive by wire upgrades enabled which cost $330 and $380 respectively.
and I'm pretty sure the M800 can be had for around 2800 enabled, bare?

That should be the minimum required to get you up and running. Then if you wish you can pursue antirag, launch control, logging, wideband lambda etc if you wish.

In my opinion ASG would be your one stop shop for the purchase, install & tune of the ECU. I'm not sure who the other MoTeC suppliers are in Perth.

True that Steve, Spec-Cs are cable throttle, but this board was also being devolped to work with the DBW throttle. Earlier versions of PNP boards don't support DBW, something about the lines on the circuit board not being big enough to supply the amperage or something.

If you have any specific questiosn, the person to talk to is David Chandler at MoTeC, as he lead the development and is a pretty easy guy to talk to.
