When a vehicle runs lean at the top of the rev range, larger injectors are needed. A tuner will never do a tune for a driver to run at the top of the rev range, but tune a vehicle to allow the driver to run at the top of the torque curve.
As mentioned, rpm is just one derivative of torque. |

Fuel system, fuel quality, temperature conditions and surging issues, plus quality plugs and a well maintained ignition system.
Have and will always recommend an AFR meter as a first mod on any performance vehicle. Another Impt mod is a water temp meter. The engine/water temp needle from the middle of factory meter on Jap vehicles are scaled unevenly. The middle to the H top measures 15deg. Edit: slight temp variations are not shown on the factory meter. The common ear is not attentive to pinging, so the above, plus a knock meter will be very useful for a tuned vehicle. |

Simple calculus, remember that in high school.
Basically, the power/torque you make is the curve (and the area under the curve) above it is what your not making yet and may achieve with future mods.

torque * RPM * 1/5250 = hp
I am tempted to post here. Will post up some formulaes on the dyno thread during the week including injector calculations etc. |

Ok I understand completely now thank you jeckle, when the car is given a custom tune shouldn't it have safe guards in place to stop the car from, leaning out of having a boost spike etc so that the car stay inside its curve ?

You can achieve more torque at a different load other than WOT. That is area above graph, even in the same gear.

That was my point. The area under the curve is showing this, but Mao said there can be area above the curve. I'm curious to what he's getting at.
