It comes down to what is affordable with tuning a 99/00 ecu be it in a Wrx /sti or forester of this vintage. The flow meters do have issues but most are related to cold air intakes & air filters that have oil on them. To fully custom tune a Subaru of this vintage with Ecutek is half the price of a aftermarket ecu. We tuned two 99 Wrx sti in January 2014 with Ecutek at MMS, the customers were very happy with the results.
