Aftermarket unit is about $350-$400 I think? Depends what you get... just had mine replaced a couple of weeks back because the fucking plastic end tank on the hot side developed a hairline crack, happens to all of them eventually.

Genuine Subaru item won't get you much change from a thousand bucks I think.

I have an aluminium ebay one in my car. Been told of horror stories about them corroding out in no time etc. I run genuine subaru coolant, and have a voltage stabilzer as well as a few extra earth straps around the place and mine is sweet. Has been in there for 12 months now without a drama. From memory it cost me about $250 delivered to my door.

Jess, try here - http://www.ozeparts.com.au/
If mine is screwed and needs replacing, this is where I'll be buying. They also sell aluminium ones if you want bling!

I considered replacing just cracked the end tank and got quoted ~$200 odd, but my rad was the original factory item afaik, car is 8.5 years old now and if I kept the old rad... there could be problems later down the track anyway, corrosion, other cracks etc. you just never know. I've been burned before by this fucking car hahahaha

I don't want to sound like a pessimist, and I certainly wouldn't wish it upon anyone...but this is just the way I think because me'car is my daily and I do ~800km of driving every week for work. I was more concerned about long term reliability and by getting a whole new radiator dropped in I know that everything is in the same new condition.

Uh, did that make sense? I need sleep...

Oh my avatar is Kari Sweets btw, do a google image search for the whole set
