Aftermarket unit is about $350-$400 I think? Depends what you get... just had mine replaced a couple of weeks back because the fucking plastic end tank on the hot side developed a hairline crack, happens to all of them eventually.
Genuine Subaru item won't get you much change from a thousand bucks I think.

I have an aluminium ebay one in my car. Been told of horror stories about them corroding out in no time etc. I run genuine subaru coolant, and have a voltage stabilzer as well as a few extra earth straps around the place and mine is sweet. Has been in there for 12 months now without a drama. From memory it cost me about $250 delivered to my door.

If mine is screwed and needs replacing, this is where I'll be buying. They also sell aluminium ones if you want bling!

Mine went last month, i paid $440 for a copper/brass radiator, these last a hell of a lot longer than aluminium one's, and replace coolant with genuwine!

I considered replacing just cracked the end tank and got quoted ~$200 odd, but my rad was the original factory item afaik, car is 8.5 years old now and if I kept the old rad... there could be problems later down the track anyway, corrosion, other cracks etc. you just never know. I've been burned before by this fucking car hahahaha
I don't want to sound like a pessimist, and I certainly wouldn't wish it upon anyone...but this is just the way I think because me'car is my daily and I do ~800km of driving every week for work. I was more concerned about long term reliability and by getting a whole new radiator dropped in I know that everything is in the same new condition. Uh, did that make sense? I need sleep... Oh my avatar is Kari Sweets btw, do a google image search for the whole set
