Name and shame the dud brand and model/type? 26 months life expectancy is unacceptable. Can you put on a Dutch accent and go in there and demand satisfaction?

Despite the warranty period being over, you may still have a valid claim against the manufacturer or retailer. People these days are being duped into believing that they have NO claim outside of warranty.

Have a read here .

Basically, you can't be expected to wave all your purchase price goodbye if it blows up, you are at least entitled to a partial refund.

The TV was a Samsung 42" HD Plasma! Been told by a few places now to stay away from Samsung TV's?

If plasma, go panasonic, if you have endless budget, go pioneer. Can pick up a Panasonic 42" Plasma 42X10A for around $1200
