Doug (dtrally) tried out the Dmack tarmac rally tyre at rallysprints.
Was less than impressed to say the least. Changed them after 2 events I think. Now running Toyo 888's.

My mate at work swears by the 888's also on his EG Civic.

The Yokie 050's are better than the Toyo 888 - I've tried both.

Agreed. Toyo 888 are a good value tyre though. Cheaper and longer lasting according to the experts. 050 appears to be the go if you are serious about the right tyre and cost is of secondary importance. If cost is the most important factor and you just want to have some fun give the D Macks a go. I have a slightly used set of 225/40/18 you can have for $400.

That's a good price, but won't fit the Lotti Are these the 'TrackDay' or the 'DMT-RC'?

Out of interest, are you able to say how much you got the Dmacks for new? PM if needed

Really? From what I've been reading in the UK the new Dmack "trackday" (it's the actual name of a road tyre Dmack make, not the wrc tyre) is popular with them, they say they are really light and give excellent feedback and are fairly quick. Better to stick with something proven I guess. I'm driving the demo car again at the moment while mine's in the shop and it's got AO48's on it. Scary in the torrential rain but when it dries out they're impressive

Dave, if you want very similar performance to the AO50 @ cheaper prices, have a look at the Hankook Z221. I'm not sure what sizes you are looking at, but you can get 4 soft compund (medium compound AO50 equivilent) Z221's in a 225/45/17 for $1200. I have driven with these tyres on a few times now & they are a great tyre.
