OK, well I thought with the changes I've made to the car recently I would give this thread a bit of an update for those that may be interested.

Since the first post the brakes where the first thing I decided to upgrade as the standard items hadn't handled the abuse at track days I had done. So my brake set up is as follows.

DBA 5000 rotors front with 4000's at the rear.
QFM A1RM pads all round.
HEL braided brake lines.

I'm currently still waiting on a Cusco brake cylinder stopper/brace (order this 3 weeks be for the Collie track day ) so I'm looking forward to trying this set up on the track.

Now speaking of the track, every time I've been I have had problems with my brakes getting to hot and virtually having my brake pedal hit the floor after 2-3 laps at Barbagallo. So I'm in the process of setting up brake ducts to try help keep the temps down and my brakes working! There are some pictures below of the mock install. This is not exactly how I'm going to do it, but it should give you a reasonable idea of what it will look like.

The main problem that I encountered while planning the brake ducting is the intake snorkel in the guard and the window washer bottle are in the way of where I need to run the hose. So I have relocated the window washer pump to the newly installed 12L spec C water tank in the boot. This is also working in with the grand plan of better weight distribution, as the idea behind the mods/build is to have a well balanced, responsive and reliable car.

I think I've written enough for one day, and I'm sure you've had enough of reading my dribble. So hopefully next weekend I'll be able to post up some pictures of the finished brake ducting.

Sorry for the iPhone spec pictures but it was all I had to use at the time.

looking good dude.

i was lookin on japan parts and they have some moulded brake ducting parts for the front bumper.

not to expensive but if they were painted you'd never know they were there.

keep us posted on about the install. im looking to do the same to my car eventually.

I should have mentioned this in the other post, as it is an import part of how I'm setting this up. The bit of cut cylinder in the bumper is what the hose will be connected to and will be positioned just behind the wrx fog light surround. The thing I like about this is that driving around on the street I can have my STI covers on so the duct is hidden, but then when I get to the track I can just swap the covers over and use the ducts.

Thumbs up

Looking good brutha, did you already order the Cusco brake cylinder stopper?

Reason I ask is I'm ordering a bunch this week from my supplier in Japan.

I was so spaced out on Sat morning I forgot to have a good chat with you.

Unfortunately I already ordered it back in September and have been told I wont see it until December some time . I think it is being shipped via sea turtle ha, but cant do anything about it now.

And that's all good about Saturday, though I'll have to have a chat with you at some point about some other cusco item's I'm looking at getting in the near future
