Time for some small updates.

OP has been updated to reflect the current state of the car.

I've also been looking at getting the suspension aspect of the car sorted out, originally I was hoping to get the GTWorx Bilstein/RCE kit in the car, but with two unsuccessful attempts it was time for something else.

I have some Koni Sport Yellow struts on the way now (front & rear), these should be here in the next two or three weeks.
They will be coupled with RCE Yellow springs, offering a mild height drop of 15mm to 20mm and an 150% increase in spring rates over the OEM springs.

I've also sourced a set of donor struts as there is a requirement to modify the front strut housing to accommodate the front inserts and the spare parts will be used to finish the struts off so that they can be fully assembled before getting installed on the car.

The car should sit like this when everything goes in, will also be swapping out the OEM rear endlinks for the Kart Boy ones that I purchased some time ago.

Master D and SyncSubaru like this.

Quite tempted to get some Whiteline Competition-C top hats for the front struts seeing that they have finally been released for the current WRX/STI.

Quote:
We have just received word from Whiteline that the Com-C front top mounts for GH (WRX/2.5i) and GR (STI) Imprezas, as well as 05-09 Legacy GT, are now available. These top mounts provide an additional -0.5 degrees of camber and +0.75 degrees of caster compared to the OEM top mounts. They also use Group-N spec low compliance rubber for a less bouncy ride with a negligible increase in NVH.

This is a great solution for those who want some additional negative camber but don't want the additional expense, NVH, and/or maintenance associated with camber plates. Call your friendly neighborhood Whiteline dealer for more info and pricing!
Source.

Any thoughts or personal experiences with these on the prior models?

Car was serviced today, whilst it was off the ground the Kart Boy rear end links were installed.
I don't think that in reality you would be able to feel much of a difference, if any, but with some extra air in the tyres and the end link on the car feels a bit more planted in the rear.

Hopefully the next update in this thread is about the suspension

Yet to encounter clunks or noises coming from the end links/sway bars, I must be doing something wrong

Whiteline have now added this to their online catalogue, at a cost of only $229, I will be getting a set of these to install on the Koni/RCE setup that will be going in the car.

KCA409 - Strut mount - offset assembly (camber/caster correction)

So thanks to Steve (Elusiv) we managed to get the suspension installed on Thursday morning.
The install was fairly forward except for the part where we spent at least half an hour going between the left and right trying to crack the nuts/bolts that held the rear struts into the lower control arm.

Installation was quite easy and straight forward and having a second set of hands was extremely handy to have.
Now onto some results!

Cornering is vastly improved, the car sits firm and flat throughout corners now with a very small amount of movement.
The infamous bobble head is gone as well now

I've managed to do a few drives on the new setup now, including taking a member for a spin around his area in Baldivis.
At higher speeds (70km/h +) the car absorbs bumps much better than the OEM arrangement, at 100km/h on the freeway or highways (Tonkin/Roe) the car eats up the bumps and you barely notice anything.
The only downside to the setup so far is that the larger bumps at lower speeds (i.e. under 60km/h) are felt just as much or a bit more than OEM.

All in all quite impressed with the setup and would easily recommend it.
Will post up results from an alignment when I have them, will be interesting to see how much castor/camber I can now get out of the car.

So the alignment was done today, also found out that with the Whiteline KCA414 camber bolt, oem camber bolts, RCE yellow springs and the Whiteline KCA409 Comp-C top hats we were about to get just over -4 degrees of camber at the front wheels.

We decided to remove the KCA414 and see how much camber was possible with the KCA409, oem camber bolts and lowered springs.
We managed to hit -3 degrees of camber with this setup but left it dialled in as -2.5 degrees.

Alignment results have been attached.

Once again thanks to the lads at Wheels World for providing a bullshit free service.
