Post My Garage History Past and Present

Well the time has come to post up a driveway thread of my current dak dak since I have managed to dig up some old photos of when she looked reasonable ! Most of the mods are from the previous owner and a few of you would know the car as "WRXOTIC" from previous years.

Ok so here it goes, sorry for the CSB edition 1.0 but oh well skip to the bottom if you don't like reading,

So it started out with me having my first kind of Dak dak with a 99 Forester GX that had 66xxkm, which I thought as an 19yo was pretty awesome for me it has a stereo and a set of GT rims on it because it needed new tyres !

Anyway that went ok for a while then I got a job working away and decided f*ck it i'm going to buy a new car so I went out and bought a brand new 07 Forester XT with a few factory options but nothing special.

I then added the usual stereo consisting of the following:
Alpine IVA d105E Dvd headunit
Alpine PXA 701 Audio Processor
MB Quart Reference Splits soon to be
MB Quart Discuss Rears
Alpine PDX Amp 1*600
Alpine MRP Amp 2*150
Alpine Type R 12" Inverted in ported box

I also lowered it and added a diff back exhaust along with a CAI and that was about it ! So after a while and commuting across the Nullabor twice in it to go to Broken Hill.

Anyway after that I found my self out of a job that had awesome money (DOH) anyway I could not afford to keep it so I bit the bullet and traded it in on a 2005 Nissan Navara 4x4 and paid out the loan on the Forester and refinanced with the Navara, now I had that for about 4-5 months and It was undoubtedly slow and boring, I also still owned my Jetski at this time and was annoyed and frustrated that even that was so slow I kept getting left behind on rides, So with the help of Rossco and I think Damo I found and purchased this: The 97 Carribean Blue WRX pretty much stock as a rock, It was good for quite a while there having two cars to serve multiple purposes. Around this time or quite a few months before hand I had met Jess, who in this period of time had Blown up her car at Collie where the Navara was put to use !

After repairing and towing Jess' car around a bit I had really no use for having two cars all that much and since seeing a Bugeye in 2002 actually as a rally car at that stage, I had wanted one in stepped the purchase of this:

How I bought it:

MY02 WRX STi
65,*** km
Black
Autronics Ecu with anti lag
24psi
PE1820 turbo
Greddy FMIC
3" s/s turbo back xzorst w/- HKS muffler
Walboro fuel pump
Greddy radiator shroud
CAI w/- Blitz pod filter
PE fuel pressure regulator
R2D2 BOV
18" Volk GT N rims
Yokahama A359 tyres
Kings low suspension (not currently on car)
Whiteline ALK
Std 6 speed with redline light weight shock proof oil
Std Brembo brakes with bendix pads
Exceedy upgrade clutch
Defi oil temp. exhaust temp, psi guages
Defi control link
HKS electronic boost controller
Greddy turbo timer
Recaro front seats
seats/door panels retrimmed in red
MB quartz internal speakers
2 x 10" Rockford P2 subbs
Eclipse amp - 50 x 4 (internal)
Phoenix Gold 500 x 1 mono block amp (subbs)
Carbon Fibre bonnet
Custom fibreglass front lip
324hp atw

After having the car for no more than I think about 4 months this happened:

I then started to work on her making her a little more of my own at the same time as running it over the pit, by A) Removing the "Salmon" Interior. B) Fixing the holes in the Exhaust and adding a hotdog/cat C) Getting it legal !

So that led to the fittment of a set of 04 WRX complete interior including door cards. A new set of matts to make her look a bit nicer inside, blacking out the front mount, getting a new ECU box as the one the Autronics was in was broken, fixing the brakes up, getting a new set of rims and Tyres as the 18's on her were on canvas on the rear, removing the 5 grade tint and replacing it with 35%, making up a false floor for the boot, fixing up some wiring of "gay" lights in the rear (which have come handy), Fixing up the brackets for the exhaust, making a bracket for the air filter plus a few other little things, So after running her over the pits the first time she passed ! Woohoo

Then after that this:

She went something like this dokdokdok due to the owner being a dildo and not checking the oil before doing Antilag launches and thrashing the living shit outta her around AHG at the time so that leaves me to where I am currently at a half pulled apart 2002 WRX STi missing some paint here and there and a gear knob thanks to my dog.

Taking into the consideration I intend on using the vehicle for occasional motorsport use along with a weekend toy these are a few of my options.

A) Rebuild current 207 and some cams/ required parts to get her running and being able to hold a bit of boost around 20psi , aiming for around 300-320hp

B) Put in a Possum Bourne Motorsport Block which already has a few goodies in it and bolting the heads back on and driving it aiming for around the 330-350atw.

C) Fresh 207 with Serviced heads etc etc as she was before she went dok and keep the wick up at around 20-22psi aiming for around 300 atw on a conservative tune.

Thoughts?

Special thanks to the following for the Photos:

Karl Pearce
Ross Cox
Jessica Forward

I would also like to say a big huge thanks to these people:

Jess - For putting up with me and my annoying questions/ thought process'
Rossco - For putting up with me and my annoying questions and for also helping me find the 97 GXWRX
Burke - For making me want a Forester so badly in the first place
The Rumo bros - For multiple late night shit talking occasions and for helping me out on more than one occasion
Gordon - Being a mate and helping me with Stereo and stupid questions
Dougie - For helping me out on NUMEROUS occasions even before your workshop.
Damo - For being a good mate (p.s I want those plates still)
Brent - For trying to show me the right sort of direction
John Otter - For helping out with servicing and motor assembly
Jester - For the abundance of knowledge you have/are.

Theres more and as time still goes on I'm sure that I will add more but for now thats enough.

Thanks for reading.

Phil

Fuck you shoulda kept the silver xt. Think of the headaches u wouldn't have had. Oh well, shit happens, we all see a smarter path in hindsight. Nice write up. I've known u since the nav-bin.. Where's pics of the my97?

Personally, I'd go option C. Keep it safe, reliable and just enjoy it!

your current block just has spun bearings... Pull it down, rebuild with new bearings and at worst a new crank. Get the crank modded for better oiling. New oil pump. and slap it back together.

Should have built your blue wagon up mate...That would have been cool!

The Bug: Rebuild what you have, add some strength to the bottom end, Keep the power to reasonable levels (300-330hp) for longterm reliability & drive the doors off it......Don't use antilag.....P.s. Check the oil!

Kudos Phil, you've grown up a lot in the last year or so....Good
luck with whatever direction you choose to take it.
