17s... 17x9 with a +45 offset. Roll the guard lips flat... 255/40 wide tyres... good times. :D
Cheers guys, any thoughts on looks?

Haha cheeky!

I think I will go with fog light covers, new or fix front lip and I want to blacken my headlights. I don't really want sti bits on it cos I don't want it to look like something its not. Stripping it out to be a rally car sounds Awsome but not quite what I had in mind for the car :p

New rims and tyres are a must, the ones atm are pretty shitty. Should I stick with 17s or go to 18/19s? And I guess everyone would say black rims for my car?
this girl... ;)

when you got a budget in mind i told you i will help you out!

black rims yes.. black on red is mmmm so good!

18x9 +38 245/35.. dont be shy

Varstoen 3.3.2 in 18 by 8.5
Okay I need some opinions... already know some people's views on the matter...
But I'm looking at doing some moding to my rex. Not too fussed how fast it goes maybe just some tweaks for the handling? I mostly want to change it cosmetically, get a better front lip for starters. New side skirts, rear bumper and new wheels. Anything I should stay clear of? And any particular order to do things? Thanks :)
Hi steph
Nice ride love the red peanuts : D

IMO I would leave the front lip and look for a set of aide skirts you like that will drop to as close as possible as the front lip and find a rear bumper you like charge speed make some nice ones. And then you could remove the spoiler and shave the boot with the cash saved on front lip. But it is you're car in the end so don't let people influence you too much : D

Will look great with a full kit ; ) good luck

tris7an 07-12-2011 11:06 AM

Varstoen
Varstoen 3.3.2 in 18 by 8.5
Agree with teejay varrstoen is a good alternative to rays the 3.3.2 is nice although the 2.2.2 will make this peanut look angry : D

Saint_23 07-12-2011 11:14 AM

Steph is a rallying enthusiast.

IMO Chargespeed kits, dewinging, shaving boot, etc looks to street racer-ish.

If anything add a bigger STi rear wing.

I just laughed so hard I shat myself

No to chargespeed kits etc.

Wheels, slam, lip.

Kato 07-12-2011 11:39 AM

STi Side Splitters
Front Lip

Done.

tris7an 07-12-2011 12:31 PM

lol

my bad purely meant the rear bumper lol although wasn't aware she was into racing. the boot would look sick shaved though imo but probably better off with some sort of wing for aerodynamics or some thing like that.

REXXXED 07-12-2011 12:43 PM

That and the chargespeed kits look like poo on WRX's

Jimmy S 07-12-2011 01:34 PM

Foglight covers, cook your headlights and paint black, front lip plus a set of 18x9.5 Rota DPT's would make for a very nice clean street car!!
Then go to work on handling/power!

I'd suggest Varrstoen's, but they are only available in 19" in the CE28 style, and nothing in 5x100. The only Varrstoen option in 5x100 is the 2.2.1 TE37 style in 18".

I am a rally enthusiast but I do like the street look, which is probably what I would go for even tho I have WRC plates and rally stickers on my car. The photos JImmy just posted are hot! Is this rex in perth? I would love my car to look like that.

kid 07-12-2011 02:11 PM

Yeah thats the perfect look.....

not a massive fan of those rims but the car is clean as fuark

teejay 07-12-2011 02:21 PM

Car wont be in Perth unless is a USDM private import...

I know someone with a set of 18x8 +45 5x100 Works XD9 Bronze

But it comes down to budget. For the asking price you will get new rotas, tyres and some dollars to spare.

Mister Two 07-12-2011 02:27 PM

17s girl!!!!!

So much tougher!

These are Rota DPT (ce28 copy) 17x9 +42 with 255 tyres
just screams "Serious business"

teejay 07-12-2011 02:29 PM

Just screams " I need another inch "

17's are great for a RS, but with the much bigger gaps in a newer model, needs moar.

Mister Two 07-12-2011 02:41 PM

No way man. Some wide 17s and tyres just shout... "race car on the road".

I know 18s would probably look better... but you know me... function > form.

Kato 07-12-2011 02:46 PM
Just screams " I need another inch "

Agree. GD's need 18's.

For the form > function, RA-R comes with 18's... Says it all really :D <3 Mr2

Mister Two 07-12-2011 02:54 PM

I reject your reality and substitute my own. 17s FTW... :p

The car I posted is some sort of hybrid... It's an 05 STi resprayed in red... with the rear boot spoiler removed and window vane added..

But essentially, if you were to take your own car and:

Cook and paint the headlights
Fit Splitters and Spotlight covers
Fit front lip
Fit Rota DPT 18 x 9.5

Then you would have largely the exact same look...

Pop off your rear spoiler and add a rear window vane(I happen to have one in my shed which would certainly be for sale), plus an STi scoop and you would have the exact same car cosmetically(until people start looking for Brembos)

I reckon the above mods are a good place to start cosmetically, and are all readily available reasonably cheaply!

:)

P.S - 19" > 18" > 17" > Liberty RS <3 ;)

Loving it. That's what I see for my car. Jimmy is that the thing across the back window? I am interested, how much would u b after? PM if u like

ImPreSiV 07-12-2011 03:22 PM

Jimmy is talking about wheel brand... lol

the thing across the back window is the STI part from pignose STI's.. not needed IMO to get the result you see before you. But that's damn hot Steph! Do it. kgo

*STI Rear Wing Vane Diffuser

They look hot but fitting it requires drilling into the body of the car.

teejay 07-12-2011 04:03 PM

Meh its just a Subaru imprezza, drilling may increase value

SJTWRC 07-12-2011 04:22 PM

It's not just an impreza thank you very much. Not too keen on putting holes in it

teejay 07-12-2011 04:27 PM

Yes it is. End of the day they are a mass produced Japanese end-margain driven shitbox.

We just happen to like the nicer ones with bigger brakes, turbo engines and better seats.

N1GHTH4WK92 07-12-2011 04:43 PM

They are imprezas lol... Shouldn't offend you like lancer, sorry, Evo drivers get offended. I never see imprezas around giving us a bad name by ricing up. Only one I can think of is Rexychik which looks good.

The car jimmy posted is perfect, cept ditch the roof wing thing. If you want something there, I think the vortex generator would look better.

SJTWRC 07-12-2011 05:27 PM

I have what I can afford. And having a wrx suits me fine.
Thanks for all the pointers guys, when I get home I'm going to start googling bits and pieces! :)
Will update this when I've purchased a few things :D

you know she has a WRX right?

SJTWRC 07-12-2011 05:31 PM

Thank you kym. I'm not a faker. Turbo ftw!

teejay 07-12-2011 05:32 PM

No wai?

It is still a imprezza - like I said we like the ones with turbo motors. Those happen to be RS's. WRX's, Sti's

I wasnt have a go in any way shape or form - but it is the truth.

So just like the other 99% of cars out there?

People with Holden Omega's lust for HSV GTS... People with 5 series lust for M5... People with 911 Carrera lust for GT2...

Heck I'm sure people with a stock Gallardo lust for a LP570-4.

teejay 08-12-2011 09:55 AM

Yes... but what is your point?

Kato 08-12-2011 10:02 AM

None, just like yours.

I don't see the point of saying it's just an 'Impreza' as we are all driving mass produced shit boxes of varying brands.

Just because you have sold your Subaru, doesn't mean you have to bad mouth them all now :)

teejay 08-12-2011 10:06 AM

Ive always bad mouthed them, even when I own another I will. :)

My point still stands too. Drilling a hole in one wont ruin its special worth.

p.s a hsv is not a holden ;)

Kato 08-12-2011 10:14 AM

No, drilling holes won't change their value. People need to forget they aren't a classic car.

So what is a HSV then? Last time I checked it was a Holden with a body kit sold at a Holden dealership...

Philbo 08-12-2011 10:24 AM

Plus the HSV isn't what it used to be i.e Handbuilt Blue printed motors they are all still just a omega with a bodykit and SS motor with different heads, they use the same manual gearbox as the standard SV6 ute !
