Steph's peanut

Just been reading a few of these "your driveway" threads and thought yeah why not?

So, first things first: I'm subaru crazy

Been influenced by my family by going out to gravel and tarmac rallies since I can remember... hence why i love cars, but the wrx's have always stood out to me, especially by going to Rally Australia and meeting Petter Solberg and Chris Atkinson.

Got my P plates July 2010, and naturally I wanted a wrx. But, studying fulltime didn’t really work in my favour money wise so, I settled with a '98 honda civic which i love dearly, still have it as my daily.

The money situate soon changed as I started working fulltime with my qualification in hand. I bought my MY03 wrx in march this year, and it was definitely THE best day of my life! To me it was perfect, so sexy in red!

Of course everything can’t be perfect. Wasn’t long before things started going wrong… in fact it was 3 days. New radiator, head gaskets and clutch please! Unfortunately my trusty mechanic was away on holiday at the time so I painfully watched my new car just sit in the garage for two months. Did I mention how bloody painful that was?!?

But, even after a bumpy start I am very happy with my rex. He is my pride and joy, a dream come true for me. And gotta love all the looks I get as a chick green P plater with a turbo subi :D haha

teejay 16-10-2011 09:40 PM

I presume you got excited being your first real car, and bought it without a proper inspection?

Few grand of lessons in that!

Having said that, not many red peanuts around, great colour. Tints, lip, dark wheels = win.

ImPreSiV 16-10-2011 09:41 PM

Bout time you did a write up Steph. A few of us who've met you know how much you love this car, and all things Subaru! This car is kept in great condition. Look forward to seeing any mods you do to it in future!

SJTWRC 16-10-2011 09:44 PM

Yep definitely learnt my lesson... very expensive lesson but whats done is done. My dad says I bought it with my heart, not my brain :p

Haha Kym i know i actually only just saw this thread section!

teejay 16-10-2011 09:47 PM

A woman making life decisons using their emotion, no way!

MattuZ 16-10-2011 10:23 PM

98kellrs 16-10-2011 10:28 PM

Nice car! Bout time there were a few more peanuts in this section! Red's are a nice change from the usual blue/silver/black.

'03' Wrexy 17-10-2011 12:41 AM

exactly the same as mine, minus the lip :D

Mister Two 17-10-2011 12:54 AM

The red with the black rims make it look badass! Good to see you at targa this year too :-)

SJTWRC 17-10-2011 08:04 PM

Thanks everyone :)
I dare you to buy black Work CR KAIs before Mel
They are pretty hot but not ready to buy new rims just yet. Ideas for new rims atm are black with red lining inside or something like that
exactly the same as mine, minus the lip :D
I'm surprised my lip is still intact! Looks good but man its a pain in the ass
Nice car! Bout time there were a few more peanuts in this section! Red's are a nice change from the usual blue/silver/black.
kid 17-10-2011 08:23 PM

Nice colour coordination :)

I get the same with my lip...scrapes everywhere and each time i hear it scrape, i cringe with fury.....

SJTWRC 17-10-2011 08:38 PM

When ever a speed bump comes up or im going up a driveway i mute my music, hold my breathe and creep up/over verrryy slowly! Then sigh of relief if i dont hear anything... or cringe and maybe a few *@#*! if i hear a crunch!! :)

lmao....i'm exactly the same, but i wind down the windows too....

Some people saw me leaving the underground work car park and were asking me what's the point of having a car so low....couldn't be bothered explaining so just told them it was a race car...

Brett Allan 17-10-2011 09:59 PM

Becoz race car^^

and Welcome Steph!

You will find everything on here!

Red WRX + black rims and lip = epitome of awesome!

Enjoy! :D

SJTWRC 17-10-2011 10:22 PM

Because Racecar!

N1GHTH4WK92 17-10-2011 11:07 PM

This car does not get thrashed enough :P

Love red and black colour setup. Makes me wish I powdercoated my stock rims rather than rushing into the aftermarket game and ended up with shitty 10 spokers.

riceman1991 17-10-2011 11:08 PM

Bit of a fan of this car :)

You broke it not me :P

I disagree! Let's not get into this shall we? Waay too coincidental. But as I said what's done is done.

jEstEr? 26-10-2011 11:49 AM

Hey, do you come here often ?

SJTWRC 28-10-2011 09:25 PM
Hey, do you come here often ?
obviously not often enough

SJTWRC 04-12-2011 05:04 PM

Okay I need some opinions... already know some people's views on the matter...
But I'm looking at doing some moding to my rex. Not too fussed how fast it goes maybe just some tweaks for the handling? I mostly want to change it cosmetically, get a better front lip for starters. New side skirts, rear bumper and new wheels. Anything I should stay clear of? And any particular order to do things? Thanks :)

Mister Two 04-12-2011 05:12 PM

Front and rear sway bars.

22mm fixed front sway bar and 24mm adjustable rear sway bar as well as heavy duty links. Even if you don't have coilovers, this makes a huge difference.

Then chuck in a good wheel alignment. And some really good quality tyres. Once you drive on high quality rubber, you'll never ever want to touch rubbish tyres again.

I'm thinking of doing this myself! :D

All of this +1.

Making the car handle better can make it feel faster without even touching the motor.

SJTWRC 06-12-2011 07:40 PM

Cheers guys, any thoughts on looks?

monkeee 06-12-2011 07:56 PM

STI Fog covers and an STI hood scoop are all I can think of...car is clean and simple already (thats a very good thing). I dont know if you can get red foggies from Subaru though (the 04/05' STI's didn't come in red)...hopefully someone can clarify this.

Listen to Mister Two as far as handling and all that jazz is concerned.

Oh and as I always say...get it on down to RAC and have some fun :)

ImPreSiV 06-12-2011 08:06 PM

fix front bumper, fix front lip, splitters, foglight covers (as mentioned) despoiler, get rear spats, save money for new wheels. That will sort you in looks department!

kid 06-12-2011 08:30 PM

Keep it simple and clean....i think i remember this car from the last cruise...looked pretty good already....

Jacob92 06-12-2011 08:38 PM

Seen ur car at anti lag looks sweet as ay

Master D 06-12-2011 09:29 PM

Put STi Pink Struts in it, lift it an inch, buy set of second rims, wrap rims with rally tyres.
pull out interior, go rallying!

Saint_23 06-12-2011 10:21 PM

Maybe fog light covers, front lip. Other than that I would put the money into the handling.

Jimmy S 06-12-2011 11:48 PM
Cheers guys, any thoughts on looks?
Have you thought about blonde highlights? ;)

SJTWRC 07-12-2011 08:05 AM
Have you thought about blonde highlights? ;)
Haha cheeky!

I think I will go with fog light covers, new or fix front lip and I want to blacken my headlights. I don't really want sti bits on it cos I don't want it to look like something its not. Stripping it out to be a rally car sounds Awsome but not quite what I had in mind for the car :p

New rims and tyres are a must, the ones atm are pretty shitty. Should I stick with 17s or go to 18/19s? And I guess everyone would say black rims for my car?

Saint_23 07-12-2011 08:13 AM

Blackened headlights will look good. Carbon front lip would be win.
Its fine to put STi bits on to enhance your car, just dont badge it up to pose as an STi.

Black or white rims will look great, but white will get dirty quickly.
18's will look good, but just remember that the larger the diameter wheel you go the more expensive the tyres will get.
