Did you get around to sorting out the heat shielding yet?
Cheers Dan,

Yeah I got my arm twisted to join the genuine wheels club....

And Oli needed all the electrics done for his renovations, so a deal was made haha.

Haven't even looked into the shielding at this stage. Possibly be done before I go back to work.

nice build!
Yeah Blake,

3" Oval tip. Nice note, I just prefer the Cannon.

I'll let you know when I've made the swap!

It's a custom system so will need to be fabricated to fit.

Updated pics;

Half Decent pic of the wheels fitted;

Gauge pod;

New number-plate for the front is on order.

Along with DBA T3 4000's + HC800's for the front.

Rears undecided as of yet...

Re-tune will be done Monday week after the exhaust is fitted and the car has had a service and gearbox fluid done.

Keen to see the results on a cooler day and with less restriction on the intake and exhaust

Update time, good news first;

Got the car back from ASG.

Very much the same results, I wasn't expecting more power/torque as it was just a clean up tune for the fuel pump and feline abortion.

Running 22 pound I've gained about ~300 RPM of response and a bit more torque. Power is the same and very consistent all the way to Redline, very enjoyable to drive.

With the help of Taylor, the brakes have been done and after driving with them for 2 weeks, I am very impressed. No noise, very little dust and plenty of bite hot and cold. Stops on a dime now.

Unfortunately after dropping the Smurf Snot last week it was discovered that the synchros in 4th gear are cooked.

The shockproof managed to mask this, so currently getting quotes to have the 3rd and 4th rebuilt with new bushings + selector fork etc.

Will be dropping the box with Taylor and delivering it to ASG or similar in the next week or 2 when Nic is back and getting that sorted.

Otherwise not much more to report.

Anti Laser Priority is being collected on Tuesday and I'll update once installed and operational.

Then cosmetic - finally fix the fkn numberplate and front bumper respray and brand new Ultrex Slim lip to be fitted

Good results all round. Hopefully the box doesn't dent the wallet too much.

Yeah bitter-sweet haha.

Speaking with Sean, I am placing money on the selector fork bushings inside the box. From his opinion and diagnosis - they have worn out and caused excess slop. This, in turn has lead to an early demise of 4th gear.

Annoying and frustrated at myself for not dropping the oil sooner, but it's happened so the tax return has found its use already haha.

See what happens when the box is split open and hopefully back a quick turn around

Minor updates;

Picked up the new ALP parking sensors and installed them yesterday.

All up and running with the optional GPS antenna.

With the severe lack of non crack price 03/05 tail lights and 03 bumpers, I managed to come across the CT Autos tail lights on my eBay lurk;

Before;

After;

Quality is good for a Taiwanese item and the fitment is very good. They were $210 landed.

All new LED bulbs and they have made a massive difference to the rear end.

Not quite as good as a peanut, but an improvement in my eyes.

Enjoy!

Update on the gearbox issues...

Phoning around and getting a few quotes I've found it uneconomical to rip the box out and replace 1/2 Syncros with the hope that the others with 140xxx kms will be fine.

I have sourced a low km tall ratio STI liberty 6 speed - also the same as the JDM Foz that has done 3xxx kms.

This along with a matching 3.54 rear diff will be installed by the Guru Doug and his team as it needs some minor modifications to fit correctly with the 02 running gear.

Works out a bit more expensive, but I'll be getting a gearbox and Diff with 3xxx kms opposed to just the 2 new Syncros.

Will post pics when it's done and see how it drives.
