Sounds good, being divorced from the process last time caused a lot of the issues the first time IMO, learning with experienced people should ensure a better outcome.

I'll be dropping the oil and coolant this weekend and get it ready and while the engine is out I will be cleaning every nook and cranny, polish the engine bay and paint the manifold red again...... I'm looking forward to this and I will be taking lots of pictures
Pull it all apart and put it back together with everything in one hit, do it once and do it right... not point pulling it again in the future

It is also good to see that negative feeback and downers have not ruined this for you.

Very keen to see the outcome and I hope it is back on the road and the track soon!

I you want to do it right and on the cheap, by a 207 short block, use your heads(get them faced and install a set of cams of you like), 12mm oil pump. Put the junker together and enjoy limiter lover and endless fun

Endless fun maybe a little over exuberant. You will need a 6 speed as your 5 speed will proberbly turn its self inside out

EJ205 will not work easily with your wiring loom (unless you use your existing heads and wiring harness) Then there are issues with compression ratio.
I hope these awesome people you speak of know what they are getting into?

unless its a short block swap, and you're DIY its ok
but i dont' see point of swapping a 205 short block
why not go 207 short block, do it once, do it right?
unless you've got a money tree growing, you'll find that you'll be constant swapping bits and parts for the next few years, with loans on a depreciating asset
yes, you get to learn stuff, but most of things you're learning now can be learnt in one go and through other's experience and subsequent advise
don't take the -ve talk as a motivation to go against the grain, because at the end of the day you are the one that will suffer, financially and possibly emotionally. its a car at the end of the day
