If you can afford it, get a Power FC now. As I said before, I am pretty sure there is no way (without coding a new chip, technology of which I am not sure if is available these days) to tune your standard ECU. If you intend on going silly (power wise) in the future, it may be wise to dodge the PFC option & look at getting a ECU that will be more accepting of future power mods (due to running on MAP & air temp & removing the MAF), such as a ViPec or Link. Both of these can be had for around the 2k mark.

A second hand FC will cost you around $700 - $900 & is still a very good, capeable ECU, & it will do what you want it to do for now, but if you think that this "Track Car" thing might get a little out of control (Just like mine has) a MAP based ECU would be a better option.

I am honestly not sure how the standard ECU will read the exhaust and header changes. If you don't intend to increase the boost for now, larger injectors will not be required just yet. Have you got yellow 440's? A new in-tank fuel pump will probably be a good idea, so would a swirl pot set up.

For now I would spend as little as you can on the car, Get as much weight out of it as you possibly can & get to as many events as possible. From what you have already posted, you seem to have a very good sound structure to build from.

Again though, how deep down the rabbit hole do you want to go? Some sensible decisions now, can save you some money in the long run.

Epic advice is Epic! I've actually got dibs on a power fc with a z32 at the moment so I will hold off on the exhaust/fuel system mods until its in my hands.

As for the rabbit hole, do they ever even have a bottom? I dont want to win anything, just want to have a good time. When the car gets too boring I will descend the rabbit hole further. Not quite the same rabbit hole as the 'cat has a dak' thread as some of those posts gave me cancer.

Nice write up man

Looks like you are doing a lot of the work yourself - best way to save that cash money! Nice work!

What is the next event you are planning on entering?

Good idea with the PFC mate. What injectors do you have? Just have a look at your fuel rail & see what colour they are. If they are yellow 440's, you will still be able to extract a decent amount of power out of them once you get the exhaust on & are ready for a tune.

The rabbit hole does not have a bottom perse, but when you run out of money & you are thinking of sellijg a kidney to pick up another half a second at barbs, its time to climb out of that hole & seek help

Very exciting times ahead for you mate

Depending on how quickly I get the car running and compliant I think my first go will be a no limits. That way I can get some higher speed tuition on board. The motorplex looks pretty unforgiving if you don't get those brake markers correct.

Just standard side feeds from the look of it mate. What flow rate are the standards? I was thinking of going 800's if I end up upgrading?

They look like the grey 380's. I think I have a set of 440's at home that will get you to around 260ish hpatw mate.

I would suggest if you wanted to go to 800cc injectors to use top feed injectors, which does mean a different fuel rail etc, but the top feed design gives you more options on injector sizes. Who knows' you may be on E85 in the next 6 - 12 months

I didnt think the rails/top feeds suit the older manifold. If they do, what are some good value for money rails to run with 800's??

You can get a top feed rail conversion, always look for larger injectors than you need.
Eg if you are thinking 800cc go 1000cc

Yea I remember Geoff mentioning that's why he had 2000cc's! I was just assuming I couldn't go beyond side feeds and couldn't really find any side feeds above the 800cc but now I know! more cashdolla$ but still money well spent. It's better than re-upgrading in the future.
