Not including insurance and maintenance as you still would have those had you purchased an STI straight up as well.

About $25k in parts & labour then, but that's including changing some parts out multiple times, labour charges to fit brakes & suspension bits that would have been included in the conversion, etc.

Really well done mate, bugger the cost, I bet you had more fun doing it and learning than what you would have saved in cash and you know the car like the back of your hand, congrats.

That's what you get from not having a set plan from day 1 I suppose! You can get to where I got much cheaper & my fault for doing things early and double tracking (early WRX bumper cost me 5x what it should have, and I ended up swapping it out anyway), but it's all a bit of fun

Few little updates:

Came across an Alpine SWS-1222D sub that I couldn't pass up for the price, so out went the Kicker and in went the Alpine. Pioneer GM-D8604 amp will find it's way in along with a 4 gauge wiring kit to replace the last of the sound system the previous owner left me. Little cosmetic damage but works as it should!

Second up, centre console got a lick of paint. Had been wanting to do this scheme on something for a while and I had a set of odd trim pieces kicking around (previously painted stuff, GX grey bits, etc). Is a bit bold, but I still have the V6 STI ones around should I get tired of it. Neons, GT wing, etc. aren't happening, don't worry!

And I've started on some custom bumper vents that sit under the indicators. Still a work in progress, been toying around with my plastic welder and lots of filler but they're getting there, just need the weather to clear up so I can start painting! Planning on having the surrounds white with the mesh black as you can see.

Ultrex headers, a tune, and a Seibon Prova-style lip are hopefully on the cards if I work enough this summer

Love it. The centre console / Prova bar aren't my cup of tea but it's not my car. Also lol at people thinking $25k is a lot... heh.

I've got a set of headers & turbo here that you can have for the right price too if you get bored.

25k was a lot to me when I was only earning 30k per year.
