Yup will do in Jan when he's sorting my LC.
The map switch option sounds like the go...I just don't want to lose the ability to take her out of town.
Cheers Dave

Nick...will def keep a jerry can in the boot if I go E85 lol, just in case of emergency.

There's a flex fuel option for brz's running ecutek, not sure if it can be done on your car though. But it has a sensor which measures the type of fuel in the tank and adjusts the map according to the ratio of e85 and 98. Would save you having to drain the tank every time you wanted to switch maps.

Few options out there it seems:

Flex Fuel Sensor Explained | Haltech - Engine Management Systems

Would be keen for a tried and tested turnkey install for WRX/STI. Doubt Verso/OE ECU would be compatible? But having said that, ECUTek is a reflash just like Verso, so may be wrong.

Just run E85 because once you do you wont go back to the environment killing dirty petrol. Bulk gains even off boost and no pinging. Why wouldn't you make the switch.

I believe it can be done on factory ecu's that are flashed with Ecutek or verso. There's just a wiring modification that has to be done which allows the flex fuel sensor to be used as an input and then that input is used as a function on the map to adjust the timing.

Haltech specifies that it requires a Haltech ECU...Will check to see if ASG can work some magic and might consider it.

I'm keen on E85 just not the availability issue when going out of town or being limited to like one or two stations....lol at when there's a problem at one station and the pump doesn't work, or they have a refill truck not come on time...will be stuffed big time.

If the Haltech solution works, I'll be in...or the multi map option, just flash to 98 when going out of town...

Default RJ's STi

MRT Performance in Sydney can set up flex fuel with ECUtek, so it is possible. Not sure if anyone in WA can do it though.

^thats a vid where they've installed it on an sti and they explain how it works.

I don't think the map switching would be a good idea because you will never completely drain the 98 out of your tank so it will always be a different mixture of fuel when you fill up.

Good old Brett! loves the camera

Yea that flex fuel option seems to be the go...keep the stock turbo, get injectors....get massive amounts of torque...looks good...surely Verso have it figured out.

That's the one : http://www.zeitronix.com/Products/ECA/ECA2.shtml

Seems much better than the Haltech one, ecu independent
This is the solution!
Thanks

Being serious for a moment, how often do you travel out of town?
