Thank u very much, I get what I wanna know already from intra, it's the pid and wgdc tunning issue. Tbh, Changing workshop is not what im after as an advice.

Just had a small chat with Mao, he said the he tuned the car rich to be safe on track. And solinoid maxed out. I will get a twin solinoid ebc with a retune and aim for 11.2 afr. If that doesnt work out then I will change workshop.

He is happy to host a dyno day for pwrx members as well. Once all sorted, I will post a n event thread.

I scratch my head as well, the other reason I can think of maybe its the ester in redline oil make the seal swell? I just replaced left hand side rocker cover on 60000km mark.

Oil consumption sounds about right. We had brand new 08sti's burning that much.

Keep the oil up to it. And start saving. It's inevitable.
Yes, it is, when I was using mobil one and shell, it was even worse. but my friend's my12 sti doesn't use a drop.

I will keep the oil level up.

Get Evo-R to tell you what "Calibration ID" the ROM is.

MY08's had numerous "fixes" to the stock calibration to deal with excess oil consumption and ringland failures from factory.

You might be running around on a old Calibration ID, which also might be making the issue worse running around tuned.

If the foundation is bad then why make it worse?

People seem to think that because its "tuned" by a workshop that they automatically fix those issues too.. in my experience only a very small percentage of people care as its too time consuming or they don't know about the changes.

But lets just assume everything's fine... nothing to see here.. move along.

U meant the recall from Subaru? Previous owner did bought the car to Subaru for that before modding it. But will ask him any way.

Car has run 700km including one trackday with penrite racing. It only used less than100ml oil, and oil pressure holds even better, but idling pressure is lower for some reason. Lifter is quiter as well. But oil is not turning black as quickly as redline, maybe due to lower detergent ?

Just made a diy TMIC wind divertor, inspired by zerosport cool action.

As u can c in the first photo, my TMIC water spray can only reach the top half of TMIC, leaving bottom half inefficiently cooled.

Hopefully it will make some diff even though i may not be able to tell

Talking

Just complete a little test on shell Vpower.

My car was tuned for BP 98, with about 10L of BP left, I filled up 30L of Vpower. Then start engine knocking testing using Torque app.

As u can c from the photos, from two out of the three pulls, ECU detected knocking. Even though, knocking correction is only -2(Mao said anything more than -3 could be considered real knocking), but it shows Vpower just dont have the same detonation resistance as BP.

After using up Vpower, I filled up with BP 98 again and did three pulls roughly about the same ambient temperature (22C) and 77C coolant temp. No sign of knocking.

From my understanding, Ron defines petrol's ability to prevent detonation, If BP doesn't cause knock, if Vpower is as good as BP, it shouldn't knock neither. But it did.

So my conclusion is Shell buys Base petrol from BP but put more octane enhancer to boost up Ron rating, which make it is not as pure 98 as BP

PS: 1. as result demenstrate, colder ambient temp (denser air) causes more knocking.
2. and more cars blows up not and redline, because after ecu detects knocking and mid rev, it will correct timing by the time u reach redline. But this is not the case of 08 STI recall, the old ECU map just cant correct knocking at high rev, but they fixed it after recall.

Most damage is done ramping up to boost (peak of torque) and peak of HP.

Whats the "long term" feedback correction like?

Instant knock event's are helpful however longterm feedback is more useful.

Infact posting up the 2D grid from the ECU

RPM down one side and Load across the top and then finally instances of knock in the guts paints a better picture.
