Yeah ive seen that chart. Its copied and pasted all over the net. Hence why i said a bit bigger than the blouch 10cm.

But that chart is a rough generalisation at best. AR is area radius ratio. You need to know the area AND the radius in order to get a figure. But with just CM^2, there is no radius value stated. And without a radius, it is impossible to calculate a AR. But given the 30r turbine is a common mid sized, you could assume its radius would be approximately what would have been used when making that chart.

And yeah, the turbine inlet is an interesting shape. Its not round, its kinda T shaped as it goes into the scroll. It certainly looks sweet. I think the turbine exit will also prove to be a better shape that the subaru internal gate shape. Its a perfectly circular exit and it flares out nicely. Thinking of maybe making it flow into a 4in ish collector then taper down to 3in as it flows down the dump.

I have used the above procedure to check the fronts today. They didnt need any adjuatments at all. The wheels fitted perfectly except for a slight massaging of the inner wheel arch on the passengers side only. Basically the corner of the metal where the battery sits needed to be pushed back approx 5mm.

The drivers side was fine as the inner panel is a different profile than the passenger due to not having a battery there.

Probs end of year for the tial housing and external gate get fabbed in. Im looking at front mount turbo options at the moment.

Fmic will hopefully be in before then though.

Don't waste your time with a front mount turbo. Been there done that and it's really not worth the hassle unless you're running a big turbo.

Im thinking more down behind the foglight drivers side. Still keeping the radiator inplace etc.

Trust me, it's not worth the hassle. The gains you'll get on a smallish turbo will be unnoticeable.

The more someone tells me not to do something, the more likely i am to do it.

Bumper / foglight mount looks to be about the shortest piping route for both exhaust, and intercooler. Exhaust is literally straight out of the headers (ELH) and into the turbine. Then air from compressor straight into fmic. From there straight up the other side and directly into reverse mani.

Exhaust out of the turbo could be run up where the up pipe went, and then down into the downpipe. Or perhaps even straight under the engine crossmember (tucked as high as possible and maybe even ovalled out a bit to compress it) and into the mid pipe. Because my car is a forester with the body spacer delete, this option looks possible. Where as im not sure it would be possible on a wrx or a forester with out a spacer delete. External gate will require some clever placement. Obviously wpuld have to be after the secondary merge. Otherwise i would need 2 external gates. And its exhaust would be screamer out the bottom or side.

I would need to figure a way to get the air filter on the front of the compressor.

I would need to sort oil and coolant in and out. Low mount will require a scavenger pump on the oil return.

I will most likely have to remove/ mod the under "U" frame on the drivers side. But from what i gather these arent too critical. Earlier gc and sf never had them. And neither does spec c. And given the obvious crumple zone folds in it in that area. Im guess it purely a crash safety thing and not so much a structuaral thing if that makes sense. I would also have to chop out the mount for it directly adjacemt where the headers would point at it.

The whole area will need some pretty extensive heat shielding to stop the bumper melting etc.


Apart from that. Im pretty sure its straight forward. Look at tge work ive thrown into the car already. Bumper mount turbo would be a nice touch. (Im not saying finishing touch because the car will never be finished....)
