But I dont know the specs of Z33 rears or weather they would fit . All the others ATM on Yahoo seem to be R33,R34,R35 and the Z33 Brembos
Already on my watch list. Haha

Bram if you can wait until January 7 (when I get back from work) I can lend you a set of Skyline rear 2 pots to try.

Thanks for the offer. I would be keen to have a look just out of curiosity. But i suspect that if they are the 2 pot Sumitomos, (which apparently are the exact same as the WRX 2 pot sumitomos) then they would be no good for me, as i would need the 290x18 rotors. But finding those rotors with 190mm handbrake and 5x114.3 PCD would be hard. I have read you can get those rotors with the 190 park brake, as that would be what the rally guys do, but unsure if they have the bigger PCD aswell. You would think they would just dual PCD them?

If they are the Brembo versions i am very interested in checking them out. Would just be to bolt them up and be certain they fit the 316x20 rotors i have currently.

They are not the same as the 2 pot Subaru Sumitomo calipers.

The mounting tabs are longer to accomodate a larger diameter disc.

I have no doubt that they should directly bolt in place of your 2 pot Subaru Brembo calipers.

Ah ok. I was only going off of Amtrapids post saying they are the same.

In that case, you have definitely caught my interest.

That would make sense. I was pondering it, and thought what Amtrapid was saying odd. Because the Nissan 2 pots take 297mm rotors, yet the WRX takes 290mm. A difference of -7mm. Yet with the Brembo comparison, nissan is 300mm, yet STi is 316mm. A difference of +16mm. Now if the 2pots were interchangeable, and the brembos were interchangeable. Then the differences would be the same. So the nissan 2 pots having longer 'legs' would make sense.

Do you know off hand if the Nissan Brembo 2 pots with 40mm pistons do infact 100% interchange with the STi Brembo 2 pots?

Can I please throw in an uneducated comment/question?

Why not just throw on a set of 4 pot calipers, and skip the whole 2 pot thing? ie: a set of 4 pot fronts from 99/00 WRX

Because the hydraulic hand brake is connected to the rear wheels.

We are discussing easy upgrades for the rear calipers/brakes. 4 pots wont mount on the rear backing plates. Even if they did, they wont match the rear Biot 3 piece rotors i currently have. And even if they did, front brakes have ALOT more piston area than rears. Which would be good for HB, but very bad for the foot brakes. The possibility of using Nissan 2 pots is interesting because it sounds like they may be a direct replacement for the smaller piston'd Brembo 2 pots. And allow me to use the Brembo size rotors i have already have spent good money on.

Because the rear calipers are for the hydraulic handbrake AND the regular foot brake, i cannot go too big as that would terribly upset the balance of the brakes. And i dont have a triple cylinder pedal box with balnce bar to properly adjust for too large rear piston size.

If the Nissan 2 pots fit, then that is a pretty economical upgrade from Brembos for the rear.

Spent a bit of time researching various front and rear combos from the main aftermarket brake ompanys who do direct kits for subaru. Just trying to get an idea of piston areas and rotor diameters to gauge the effective brake ratios front to rear.

Brembo 4pot STi Front.
Piston Area - 5834.12mm^2
Piston Size - 46mm & 40mm
Rotor Size - 326x30mm

Brembo 2pot STi Rear.
Piston Area - 2034.72mm^2
Piston Diameter - 36mm
Rotor Size - 316x20mm

Brembo Piston Area Ratio - 2.86 : 1

Brembo 2pot GTR Rear.
Piston Area - 2512mm^2
Piston Size - 40mm
Rotor Size - 300x22mm

Subaru 4pot Front.
Piston Area - 5024mm^2
Piston Size - 40mm & 40mm
Rotor Size - 295x25.4mm

Subaru 2pot Rear.
Piston Area - 2288.61mm^2
Piston Size - 38.18mm
Rotor Size - 290x18mm

WRX Piston Area Ratio - 2.19 : 1

FNSL6R Wilwood Front.
Piston Area - 5199.17mm
Piston Size - 41.15mm & 28.45mm & 28.45mm
Rotor Size - 355x32mm

FNSL4R Wilwood Rear.
Piston Area - 2548.32mm^2
Piston Size - 28.24mm & 28.45mm
Rotor Size - 327x20mm

Wilwood Piston Area Ratio - 2.04 : 1

Alcon 6pot Front Monoblock.
Piston Area - 5623.21mm^2
Piston Size - 38.1mm & 34.9mm & 30.2mm
Rotor Size - 365x32mm

Alcon 4pot Rear.
Piston Area - 2025.8mm^2
Piston Size - 25.4mm & 25.4mm
Rotor Size - 343x25mm

Alcon Piston Area Ratio - 2.77 : 1

AP 6pot Front.
Piston Area - 5011.2mm^2
Piston Size -
Rotor Size - 355x32mm

AP 4pot Rear.
Piston Area -
Piston Size -
Rotor Size - 335x24mm

Couldnt get all the info for the AP. And ive still yet to look through the Stop Tech kits, but it looks like most typically try and have a piston area ratio of about 2.5 :1. The Wilwoods go as much as 2.04 : 1.

Edit : Stoptech sizes.

Stoptech 6pot ST-60 Front.
Piston Area - 5262.64m^2
Piston Size - 36mm & 34mm & 30mm
Rotor Diameter - 355mm

Stoptech 2pot ST-22 Rear.
Piston Area - 2267.08mm^2
Piston Size - 38mm
Rotor Size - 345mm

Stoptech Piston Area Ratio - 2.32 : 1

Researched this a bit. Z33 / 350z are differemt to GTR brembo. Slightly larger 322mm rotor and totoally different mounting. So not gonna work with out a bit of custom bracketry? From what i can tell, they have 40mm pistons aswell.
