So a productive day collecting some new fluids and some heat protection.

Revolution Racegear was the only place I could find who stock (or next day order) the DEI Products for anyone else interested.

I was told you can ~1L to flush brakes and ~0.5L to flush the clutch so hopefully that information was correct :cool: Is it still considered correct to bleed the furthest from the master cylinder to the closest, EG; [U][I]rear left, rear right, front left and finally front right[/I][/U].

Yup that's how I did Mine. All good so far

Fantastic! That is one less thing to worry about.

So today was extra productive;
- changed the brake fluid to DOT 5.1 (nice firm pedal feel)
- changed the clutch fluid to DOT 5.1 (nice consistent pedal)
- modified the stock heat shield to shroud the exhaust housing better and then used the Reflect-a-Gold on the inside. In a perfect world it should reflect the heat back into the housing and away from other components... thats the theory.

- next was the heat-sheilding. I picked some from super-cheap during the 20% off and made a few cuts / bends and it was done.

- I splashed the Reflect-a-Gold around onto the underside of the TMIC and brake booster.

From my non-scientific "[I]feel hotter or colder[/I]" testing there is significantly less heat around the clutch / brakes and the intercooler side / bottom are able to be touched after 15 minutes of driving. I guess the real test will be on the 15th at RAC!!

To finish off my ONLY socket cracked... luckily I was able to borrow another one and sorted the wheels out.

Looks good, i started playing with cutouts for 5 mins and couldn't find a decent mounting point. Yours is a lot simpler than what mine is. I don't have a turbo heatshield, so was trying to incorporate that into the design as well to stop heat rising straight up to the reservoirs.

Is the shield rubbing or touching the wastegate arm at all? When the hood is closed, I assume air from the scoop will be directed to the turbo side (not necessarily a bad thing).

I might copy your design and see how that looks on my setup. I actually bought a Perrin heatshield some time ago, to go over my turbo beanie and downpipe blanket, but when my 3" went on, they cut the freaking brackets so I can't even mount a new one on. :( :(

Yeah my design ([I]in theory[/I]) stops radiant turbo heat and heat rising from the downpipe.

My waste gate arm is non existent because external wastegate... [I]which I have plumbed back into the exhaust.[/I] If it was there it would be tight, but would move freely.

It uses a Process West splitter so only the drivers side of the scoop has a collector for the turbo and helps push air over the turbo / down pipe, and the collector makes up 1/6th of the splitter. This new shield will hopefully not impede the flow.

The combo of the shield and beanie is almost perfect... which means your situation is unfortunately, but you can always make the most if it.

You can see in this picture I mounted it on the arm that holds the clutch reservoir. I had to drill the hole but that was the only [I]butchery [/I]of the car I needed to do.

Those spline nut sockets aren't too badly priced on Amazon, I ended up with 2 spare units just in case I managed to split it some how.
Pity about the US dollar of late...

Good to see that you managed to get a replacement fairly quickly!

I managed to get a spare from Subaru Owners WA on Facebook, so that was a life saver!

Yeah just have to get a new socket now. They range from $10 - $100 on eBay... Which I can't understand why because they are all the same part number.
