Default Powerfc won't hold tune

Good afternoon guys and girls.

So I've picked up a powerfc for my gc8 97 wrx.

Its the right model, 3 yellow plug version and I've followed the tip here to swap the ecu pins and it starts and runs fine.

Whats wrong is when I turn the car off it defaults back to the base map.

I've read here and other forums that the eccs relay should leave power on for a few secs to allow the pfc to store maps and settings.

The Muppet who owned my car previously had a crap alarm fitted and removed it but the old loom is still in it. Its embedded everyone and it's a mess. He's cut and shut wiring.

The engine has also been swapped and I fear he has wired up the eccs relay a bit dodgy.

The question I have, what pin of the powerfc needs the 12v to hold on longer? Rather then fight the loom, i have install a 2 sec delay relay and power that pin from 12v source.

Does the powerfc have a 12v constant?

ECCS relay is a relay on a nissan skyline - It has no equivalent in a Subaru.

The ECu hold power function is part of the ECU itself on GC8's.

When you say it defaults back to the base map, are you backing all the way out of the menus on the hand controller before switching the ignition off?

As nothing is saved if you don't back all the way out of the menus.
Once 'stored' this way there is no 'save' done at power off with a PFC (the ecu has non volatile memory - if you unplug the ecu from the car all of your maps stay intact without power).

Is your cars accessory power feed working? radio etc?

Yes the accessories feed is working, radio, etc are all fine.

Say for instance you change the led back light setting, or adjust the idle, then back back to menu, then shut the car down. When you go back to accessories or engine running, the settings are all back to normal and base map is back.

The ECU can be locked by a tuner using either a data logit or Apexi FC Pro and you won't be able to change anything.

If your settings aren't being stored this may be the case.

Try changing the MAF type & backing all the way out - power off & back on - did the new MAF type stay?

Tried again today. No luck. Did notice though when you turn the key to accessories, stereo comes on etc but not power fc. Power fc isn't powered till you turn to the second key setting when dash lights up. Is the power fc meant to be powered at the first key detent?

No the display should be off until position 2.

I just know of 1 early car that had an accessory feed issue that played with the Power FC in a weird way.
