No need if you have cable throttle. The world of Autronic and Link (not to mention the rest), suddenly open up and you have a choice.

Just throwing this out there atm, it could come in handy for others in the future. I couldn't find a whole lot of info in search on these kinds of topics.

Hmmm soo going back to a cable setup, you'll need to find a new throttle body, cables, foot pedal and then rewire bits and pieces to make it work...

Oh lets not forget the "returning it to stock" dilema

Too hard in my book..

By the time you add up all the bits you buy to get it going plus the labour. You might find that you are on the ballpark to owning a MoteC

What are the advantages of the E throttle over cable?

Looks like conversion is a bit out of the question atm.

Nothing wrong with a reflash, just exploring every option atm.

you will need the whole intake plenium to convert to a cable throttle. this is so the idle ports match the throttle bodies.

advantages of an electronic throttle are endless, air-craft and industrial equipment have been using such technology for decades.

the only negatives are when they are dulled down by factory computers making them safer for the masses. delayed throttle response and smoothing of the throttle input signal result in better fuel economy at the expense of driver feedback. like understeer- its better for the bulk of the population, not necessarilly then enthusiasts.

DBW with aftermarket controllers though are a different story, not only is feedback instantaneous, you can create and manage all kinds of scenarios by automatically controlling throttle output, rather then using fuel cuts/ignition cuts.

I have already investigated doing the cable conversion but it's all too hard. A lot of "other things" & "other controlling" involved.
Options are re-flash, apparently MoTec, or Autronic which will be out "soon" (But may be just like their AVCS version where "soon translated into 2 years!).

It would be nice if subaru just had a $3k "Gold box" option when you purchased them.

"comes from factory with Motec" Now that might sell some ugly betty's!

You can get that on those race spec STI's they were selling awhile ago.... if only they were road legal and cost less than an arm and a leg.

I think if they were just road legal then it could be a viable option instead of getting a GT2 or somethign else.

Porsche do the racey versions really well. You get a car thats just road legal but has super lightweight carbon seats, carbon rooft, aluminium everything. Racing shocks. 4 point harnesses factory. etc.

Agreed and they run motec....They are also spec C from the factory so they have a cable throttle.
