Because part-time racecar.

Posted 08-01-2013 at 08:13 PM by monkeee

I'll get straight to the point. I want to get these in the future after I have built up enough seat time around Barbs and actually start to push hard for quicker times.

- STI Group N set (these will be done very very soon)

- 17 x 8.5 XXR 530's/527's to fit wider semi-slicks (thinking 245's). XXR's because they dont break the budget too much and they get the job done.

- Whatever semi slicks I can get my hands on

- Second set of pads (thinking Project MU RC09 club sport pads) to swap in the night before Barbs.

- Tempted to buy a harness bar and rip the stereo and back seats out permanently (I take out the back-seat + sub for No Limits atm) but I don't know if I can live without music (I know, softaasfuck).

- A new car for when I bin it around the last corner...

Until then its all about seat time. Am going to get the instructors to drive the piggy around on Thursday night to see if I can lose some seconds on my own after.

You are a man on a mission, good work mate. Ditch the stereo and learn to sing.

Don't you already have the eye bolts welded in to the back?

Hahaha thanks Dave. You can thank the other Dave (Master D) for getting me hooked.

I have the eye bolts Burke but I don't think they are welded in. I would go the Meridian harness bar where you can run back-seats and just clip the harness in and out but I really don't have passengers so I'm leaning towards the ever popular Sparco harness bar.

Sticking with my stock front seats as I really don't want the thought of airbags not working on my mind while going around Barbs (may just get a wider 3" harness).

Need to find out how to mount / what cameras will fit on the bar.

May keep the stereo, can't really hear the rattles from the front anyway even with the back seat out.

just keep the eyelets and don't worry about the harness bar, you're going to spend money on something that essentially is going to do what you have now.
get a gopro and stick it on.

If you can, go a 3" wide harness where you can shane, the wider it is the better you can strap yourself in.

Yeah ive been looking at harnesses off RSD.com

Sparco 3" 4-pt Harness $250 + Shipping. Seems to be the go with some shoulder pads. The Velo is good but that extra width would help alot. Also the belt buckle clip design is good for ease of use except if you tighten your shoulder straps up too much it slips up your stomach haha (not sure if this is the case will all harness designs).

    TAKATA = crack priced.

As it stands I have no intention of putting my sub + seat back in. Too addicted now.

I missed No Limits on Thursday due to illness (gastro...yuck). All good as my entry has been carried over for Jack's Hill Climb which I have never done.

Had a look at that one. Tommy that's exactly what I'm after. Thanks so much for the suggestion. Will look into where I can source one/order one from.

*edit* Found out Searle Race Equipment stock them. Sweet!

Been doing a little looking for the harness. Just waiting on replies from a few places as to whether they can get me the 4-pt ASM variant (they only stock 6-pt's).

I thought TAKATA was overpriced from RSD.com.

Can get a 4-pt ASM TAKATA for $380.00 (+ $76.00 shipping) from DemonTweeks and this is what I'm leaning towards now.

Or if you like the 6 point but don't have the seat to accommodate this simply remove the inner leg straps of the 6 point to make it a 4 point.

I have this Sabelt 4 Point Lightweight Racing Harness | FIA Approved Motorsport Safety Harness | Rallynuts which can add Crutch Straps - T Type Crutch Strap to make it a 6 point, or this Crutch Straps - Negative G Strap to make it a 5 point once I change out the Sti seats.
