I've heard that if you stacked ZIM dollar bills on top of each other and added one for every inflationary dollar then the pile would go to the moon and some way back.

It's the perfect example of what is happening in the USA and most FIAT currencies. It just happened very quickly in Zimbabwe.

Further, Mugabe and Gono were quite happy for it to occur. Why - they had the perfect and ever increasing arbitrage. You could change USD to Zim; You couldn't exchange ZIM to any other currency unless you were a Mugabe/Gono buddy. As such, you could take 1 USD and convert it to say 6000 ZIM on the black market. Then back to the bank and exchange for $24 USD, back to the black market for 144,000 and so on ...
