Hey all, perhaps someone here has had the same dilemma that I'm in right now and can offer a bit of help.

A few months ago I sold a car on eBay to an interstate buyer who flew to SA and drove the car back to Sydney. All seemed fine for a while until I started receiving toll bridge charges week after week, and more recently, parking fines and all manners of other charges. So despite me disposing of the car properly in SA, they have not changed ownership in NSW. So far I've spoken to SAPOL, the po po in NSW, transport departments in both states and despite all of this, they all give contradicting responses and referring me to contact the other. Now today I've got a letter from the NSW department of transport who have issued me a notice of debt collection, despite having returned all of their bills with stat dec's from different South Australian departments. I'm running out of ideas as to what to do, and I'm sick of getting jerked around by the many different departments and their hand balling around. The new 'owner' of the vehicle refuses to answer any calls I make to them, so I can't even contact the slimy bastards.

Anyone here had similar problems?

You have a copy of the transfer papers? Send a copy of this with each of the fines back to where they came from, or follow each fines rules for "if you aren't the driver..."

If you are receiving fines, then the system would recognize you as the owner?
Close the registration and tell them the plates were stolen.
Theft of plates by new owner (provides details to SA police) and let the NSW police sort it out.
