Because its worth risking frying fuses and setting fires to save 2 minutes of undoing a terminal?

^^ Yep.
Head unit has 1 constant 12v feed, do it first, heat shrink/tape it and its fine.
Amps you can run the whole setup and pop the fuse in last.

When I changed my HU couple of weeks ago (disconnected the battery), when i finished everything connected the battery and started my car without being required to enter the code but I also could not arm it, as in the keypad was not lit. Note though that my keypad was in manual arming mode. Battery was disconnected for about 5hrs (very slow Saturday).
Saturday started and turned off the car plenty of times, Sunday tried to start it and I was required to key in the code. I tried to key in my code and it wasnt accepting it. Manage to trick the Brant into not asking me for a PIN, but then few days later it happened again. Called up Subaru Melville, and after proving that I'm the owner of the car and providing the VIN, they gave me the master code.
Had to wait till Brant would require me to enter the code again, entered the master code and after that my old code worked.
Sorry about a novel, but I saw that heaps of people had issues with Brants so I thought to post my experience. I would suggest trying to get a master code for your car if possible before disconnecting the battery.

The only time you will have an issue is when the battery goes flat/battery is disconnected for and long period of time causing the battery that stores memory in the keypad module goes flat

Brant keypads seem to be nothing but trouble

I'll be looking to get a amp/sub installed possibly in the near future for my my06 wrx. The thing is I've got a $400 voucher to use at jb-hifi so I would like to use it for a sub/amp as theres nothing else from jb-hifi I want at the moment. Can anyone vouch that jb-hifi are able to do a decent job with the installation etc?

My understanding was that the Brant had a backup battery. Disconnecting the main for a few hours should not be an issue unless the backup is stuffed.

How to know if your backup battery is fritzed is the million dollar question!!!
