IMO just get the fascia of the rims done in black 'powder coated or painted same colour as the car', and leave the lip polished 'to give the rims some depth', if you really want to change them up a bit.

Leave the inner sides of the spokes with the machined finish, and they should look pretty cool 'no need to get them painted as well as the brake dust will take care of that', and this way you can see if they look better with the machined finish or colour matched

The wifey isn't really going to care all that much as long as she can do what she needs to do with it and move around what ever she needs to move around in it.

Right so I have finally fixed the ugly wheel syndrome for the wifes car

New 20's for ferrying the kids around

and just for Chrus the 18's with All terrains for off road
