Yep I skimmed it & mixed up the words. Any acid use should be with protection anyway.

thanks for the brilliant thread Saint, id have to say i quite like the mothers collection of products dont know if its just me but it seems like they dont leave lines after washing my car but its probly just me hahaha

Autosmart Ali King is like that wheel cleaner I PM'd you about a few weeks back.

Generally Autosmart stuff is ok. Good cheap basic stuff for the workshop but thats it.

Bought myself an Ozito Sander/Polisher from Bunnings for $100 for my DIY panel work...

Gave it a spin this afternoon, and it worked a treat! Took all the hard work out of buffing and gave it a great finish. I found that sometimes after doing it by hand, a week or so later I'd get white scuff and swirl marks all over the paintwork from either using too much polish or not rubbing it off/buffing it properly. Been using Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine. Cost me about $40 a bottle from memory. Much better than the Meguirs stuff I used prior.

Will get some pics up soon, although not sure if my camera will show the shine.

Please be SUPER careful not to run it at too high of a speed and to keep the machine moving constantly. Also do not apply too much pressure.

It's EXTREMELY easy to create burn marks in the paint should you not know what you are doing/incorrect use.

Buy a dodgey panel from a wreckers to practise on until you know what works & what doesn't.

I've bought a bunky commodore for work and the paint is in reasonable nick but is just dull, haven't had a chance to have a decent look but I assume the clear coat is gone.

any suggestions? I've not dealt with anything other than shiny clear coated subaru metal for YEARS!!!

oh and just so I am value adding and not sponging, I use Auto Glym leather care - its fantastic, was recommended by a detailer who was in the shop looking at other stuff and I got chatting to him - apply it pretty thick and let it dry and buff it off - magic stuff

Keep a water spray bottle at hand and spray when needed, I always spray the machine pad and surface area being polished before having at it also be careful when polishing edges 'it's even easier to burn through them'.

Also its not good to machine polish your vehicle often, I'd say no more then twice a year if that.
