Smile Disconnecting battery does it effect the ECU?

hi everyone,

A friends car is ECUTEK tuned 05 sti, the other day the deck was playing up 'would not turn off' so decided to disconnect the battery ( only took the black cable off 'negative terminal'? for a 1 minute or so. Deck+time reset, the main question is would this of reset the Ecu ( Ecutek tune) in anyway??

sorry if this has been discussed before.

thank you.

cheers for the quick reply.

On another note, so there is no problems with disconnecting the battery for a few hours or a few weeks? So the ECU/ tune is not effected in anyway?

in other words tuned ecu's can only be reset by a tuner with a their software?

thanks.

Won't affect the ECU but if the car has a Brant it could mess with that

lost of power doesn't affect ecu tune

think of it the same as your PC's ROM, switch off power, base info still there

The tune will be there forever regardless of how long the battery is disconnected. It would be impossible for the ECU to go back to the stock tune because that has been replaced by the tuners tune.

I think the biggest thing you need to worry about with disconnecting the battery is the Brant system mentioned already.
