As a bike rider, i feel it's necessary to lane split not really to get infront of traffic, but to get away from it. It's more of a safety thing for the biker to get away from traffic. As stated previously, ppl lane change with no checks etc. Even if I'm on say marmion or something and I'm surrounded by traffic, I'll accelerate, not excesively, just to create a safer environment.

You're a fucking cock pocket.

There's a bunch of great reasons to split the traffic and get away from as many tool bags as possible. People like you are why bikers want to get away from the clumps of moron fucking cagers.

Have a great day now.

If a bike pushes in front of me I also tailgate them. Why should he slow me down off the lights when I was first in the Q, or turn left in front of me when I want to go straight!

Sorry, but why are bikers allowed to break the law cutting between traffic and going over solid white lines (at the lights)?

Nothing annoys me more than the biker who is breaking the law cutting through stopped freeway traffic or traffic at the lights just because they can. As for all this crap of "oh its safer", it is not safe for someone to magically appear in between lanes and race every one off from the lights.

Do that in a car and you are a hoon. On a bike its 'safe'. Now thats bullshit.

tailgating a bike is stupid to say the least....i can stop the bike from 60km\h in 6 meters, can you?? I know what you might say...blah blah I was the first in the Q he pushed in front of me, but in the eyes of the law if an accident happens you will be responsible and you will be charged with manslaughter...would you live with that??

road rage eh?? that's the exact reason why i never ride the bike on sat nights, this and drink driving

Cutting thru traffic or "weaving" is illegal. However when traffic is stopped at a traffic light it currently is legal for a motorbike to cut thru to the front, altho they are trying to make it illegal. But once traffic starts moving again they must fall back into line and stop weaving thru the cars. It is highly dangerous, if someone was to open a door at a traffic light to remove their seatbelt/dress caught in the door, or to get a bee out of the car or any reason, someone could be seriously injured or killed. Most motorbikes assume that they can accelerate faster than the average car, so they don't think much of it when they take off from the lights and then drift into the middle of the lane, however they get a massive shock when they realise there is a car right behind them.

Riding a bike is dangerous, and always will be because some bike riders put them selves in stupid situations. Several times i have gone to change lanes fairly certain there is no one around me, then when i look over my shoulder just to be sure, i see a fucken bike sitting in my blind spot. Used to happen heaps on the way home from work. Its fucken annoying.

Bingo... Not legal. Even if the cops dont pull you over for it, the
scenario will go something like this...
1. Bike splits lane.
2. Car driver stays in own lane.
3. Accident caused.
4. The coroner will find that the motorcyclist acted illegally causing accident.
5. Car driver escapes blame due to illegal behaviour of bike rider.
6. Car driver lives, no injuries.
7. Insurance pays to fix car.
8. One less motor cyclist splitting lanes.

Problem solved...

Besides... Even if lane splitting wasn't illegal it is stupid. You are
endangering your own life, which is not really a problem as such,
however if you don't die, then my 3rd party insurance pays to fix
your broken back etc... Which pisses me off. You act like a tool,
split lanes and do illegal crap, and ALL taxpayers foot the bill.
GROW UP, be a responsible part of society or stop riding.

3. Accident caused. Bike's crash into car
4. The coroner will find that the motorcyclist acted illegally causing accident. Court ruled car driver broke the law
5. Car driver escapes blame due to illegal behaviour of bike rider. car driver was charged, fined $1000 and lost licence for 2 years
6. Car driver lives, no injuries. car driver attempts suicide because he has been blamed for death of a motorcyclist being an ass
7. Insurance pays to fix car. insurance didn't wanna know
8. One less motor cyclist splitting lanes. one less motorcyclist... but is it worth it?
I have edited to show what happened to my friend...
