Doesn't make sense at all to me.
05 STi with a diff issue at a dealership = fix it under warranty. If they are aware of it, why hasn't it been done? Tyres, well if some ididot has put $89 ones on at the dealership, they are going to have a hard time selling. Performance cars like them have people who have half a clue looking to buy them.

Probably so they can say 'oh you've been thrashing your new car haven't you' and then find any and all excuses to make the new owner foot the bill. If it still drives with it they won't spend money they don't have to. They probably put in different oil too to try and mask the noise a bit

But apparently they just dont want to fix it yet, until it is sold because it's not a " big " problem. And at $51k for an 05 STi is a good gain for the company considering the salesman bought the car from someone else at $39k. Its not hard to sell performance cars with cheap tyres, as long as you're good at talking and selling. If you understand what i mean |

Understandable. The Dealership has outlayed more than enough on the car so far! Thus they will sell for a profit first and then fix the problem. Makes good business sense to me! Although I wouldn't have paid 39k with a stuffed diff. Besides this selling the STi won't be an issue either as people think buying from a dealership means you are getting a good car & we all know that isn't always the case!

Id hazard a guess that the bloke looking at buying this car probably wont be leaving the stock wheels on the car for too long... and as John has said... 05 Sti still has 12 months new car warranty...
Id be jumping at the chance to pick something like this up if they new there were problems with the car and had not fixed it... I'd be buying it as cheap as possible... and then getting it all fixed under warranty... even if the new car warranty for some reason is not valid, all dealership must give a 3 month 5000km warranty by law... so make them fix it... take it back the day you pick it up... The people dumb enough to spend that much on a 2 year old car are in 99% of cases very particular about the condition the car is in as they know they are paying big $$$... Speaking from experience, we sold a Black 05 STi with 30kms last year for $44k... after having it sit at the dealership for a number of months with $47990 on the screen... 05 STi's do not sell every week at non-subaru dealerships...

Hatched,
I looked at this same car back in March. When I pointed out the knock in the rear axle slick the salesman tried telling me that it was the blow-off valve Couple of other things. The same car was up at Wangara advertised at $46990 in late Feb. Leach Hwy Bitsmissin tried telling me that he paid more than that for it. They also increased the pink ticket price in the lead up to a 10% sale. When I ran this past their head office the dealer gave them the line that the non-standard exhaust and BOV had to be removed hence the $3k jump to $54990. I am assuming that these things are still on the car. As the say, anything at a price. Make sure that you ream him good and proper, I say. Last edited by XER555; 30-04-2007 at 02:01 PM. |
