FYI, during your test driving, be aware that 05 STi's are naturally noisy. in more ways than one.
clunky centre diff at low speed (x10 with DCCD in manual mode), often while turning. also often clunks during low and high speed gear changes. the gearshift itself is also pretty notchy, alot less smooth than the 5 speeds boxes you're probably used to.
these things are normal and shouldn't be mistaken for faults. obviously still query ones that seem a little odd.
03-05 STi's had a common rear strut clunk issue which is well recognised and can be replaced by Subaru, which mine was.
