Lets go back 4 years and subaru wasnt exactly leading the customer service stakes.....they've learnt (to an extent anyway) prior/after sales service and backup goes ALONG way vs resting on a product's laurels.

just called skippers who say they wont have an Evo IX for "quite some time".
he wouldn't answer my question of when they would have one in, but he assured me - repeatedly - that they have a VIII, and he could "save me alot of money". thanks, but no thanks...

When I worked at toyota head office and also when I sold cars at honda, you would often hear of sales people selling cars the day before I knew a new model announcement was being made to the public. The dealers already knew. Not good for customer satisfaction but some dealers just wanted to make sales targets and didnt give a rats ass.
