i just wanna see a decent sequential/auto gearbox (6sp pls!) that is responsive and strong enough to handle the massive power like the one you see in some of the european luxury supercars..............

Hmm, that sounds possible but how come Nissan gets away with a 2.5 litre GTST (or GTT in the R34) and the 2.6l GTR? Also aren't some of the non turbo liberty's (legacy's) above 2 litre (also forrester etc)...?

Just a thought..

I agree, I previously edited my post. I agree with the first part about the fuel quality, but I know Legacy's have had a 2.5 T for years too. Plus I quoted from another (" ")

Also if it's because of good quality japenese fuel, then wouldn't Subaru simply use the 2.5 (assuming it is a better motor then the 2.0) and make MORE horsepower?

Well they do for some of their models e.g. Forester STi is a 2.5 and that used to be a 2.0 Litre, so who knows?

Rally regulations maybe? so far all the performance developments are done on a 2L and tested on the rally circuit then flow down to road cars.

Yanks are used to cars with good low down torque engines (crap american "muscle cars") and because the market there is big enough for Subaru to develope a 2.5L just for the US market, which they were unable to prior to 2001 due to tough emission regulations, and part of the reason why they're always one model behind (they have the bugeye as MY03).
