yep i agree, i want some bits hehe

yer i wouldnt say it boosting out to 1.8 once would melt a piston unless you were holding it at that flying down the freeway or something

Sometimes (not saying this time), but sometimes "shit breaks" - no reason, no one's fault - it's just part of modifying cars. Sometimes fuel pumps fail, oil pumps fail, hoses & lines split or loosen, ecu boards & electronic gizmos crap themselves for no reason - many things can & will happen, especially with older/modified cars & used parts.

The more I think about it the more I suspect something else isnt "right".

Aftermarket Ecu
550cc injectors
Td04.

Even at 1.8bar, a Td04 isnt going to milk a set of 550's.

Maybe it was tired to begin with. Where did the motor come from Luke?

It runs a FMIC, so it hasnt had thermal loading issues. I know how it was being driven just prior to its fire, and its death, and that sort of driving wasnt hard enough or prolong enough to kill a motor.

So what kills a motor? Oil issues... if it leaked all the oil out and did a big end maybe, but thats not what it sounds like...

Sounds more like its done a ringlind, blow by has put oil into the engine bay, causing the fire.

Either way its fucked.

Heres my "ifs"

"If" it wasnt tuned above a certain level, lets say 1.3 bar, cos thats what a stock td04 is going to flow happily, and its ran 1.8, its dead, and if it had overboost programmed into it, and it didnt work... well the reason it didnt work is to blame.

"if" the motor was already dead no ones to blame.

if a fuel pressure reg or injector failed, whos to blame?

Sorry for the wierd post, Ive been sitting here for an hour thinking aloud. Writing them down was meant to help me sort it out in my head... its not working.

the motor was from the workshop that put it in. i was told that it was in good condition and will be fine.

there was masssive amounts on oil leaking, it covered the cop car behind me. i didnt check the oil levels. the car went straight on a flat bed to the inpound and then flat bedded from there to the workshop.

the tuner said it was a ring which in turn melted the piston...

Oil leaks on an engine install are a workshop problem.
