just maybe if you havn't sorted out the reversion syndrome you have going on in your exhaust system, you should a have a good read of this. taken from team-integra.net "choose the right EXHAUST SYSTEM (i.e. header collector, cat, exhaust) SIZE not just the right exhaust size. exhaust system SIZING (as in DIAMETER) is everything when it comes to choking off your top end rpm gains or releasing what power you can potentially make with what you already have in parts...because sizing deermines exhaust flow speed and backpressure The easiest thing to do is pick the same diameter for all 3 or come as close as you can. If you want to go one better than that: post body search under the term "reversion" . It explains that you should increase the diameter as you go in the direction of exhaust flow and never choke down the diameter. We talked about this in the backpressure article already. Backpressure is a crutch for getting midrange but chokes off the top rpm power, especially at full throttle. To go faster at full throttle, you must gain power in the top rpms and so you want no backpressure. You fuel tune and ignition timing tune to regain the lost midrange when you remove all backpressure. if you don't believe a 2.36 in. OD exhaust makes a difference in creating backpressure -related reversion compared to a 2.5 in. OD on a 2.5 in. header collector/cat combination look at the bottleneck shown by the carbon deposit left on the 2.36 in. exhaust Bpipe flange by a 2.5 in. cat. : picture and post can be seen here: http://www.team-integra.net/forum/di...g+Common+Topic Sorry if im patronizing you mate if you know this already or have sorted it out, but having a look at that most recent shot of the underbody of your car, the dump off the gt4088r looks fucking massive, then it bottlenecks into what looks like your old exhaust system. And the above information is for gaining top end in a b18c in honda Type R's which will be flowing hardly as much exhaust/charge air as your massive turbo would, so i think you might have identified your problem. A somewhat 3.5inch dump in what looks like a 3 inch system. I suggest maybe a 3.5 dump into a 3.5 cat, 4 catback and a 4.5 inch muffler. This could see a massive difference? tell me what you think louis Last edited by cordz; 05-04-2010 at 09:12 PM. |

This is what weve come up with for the exhaust solution:
Photoshoot is progressing well, just have moving shots to do then pics will be sent to the magazine. Have decided on getting a new exhaust- So will be 3.5" dump (x2 44mm wastegate screamer pipes) into a 4" mid-section then into a 3.5" final / muffler section. Im hoping this will remove the restriction that we are seeing and provide a free flowing exhaust.. We have gone with a final 3.5" muffler section to quieten it down a little plus the exhaust gases would have cooled tremedously before it gets to that part so i cant see that causing a restriction. The whole exhaust will be broken up into 3 sections using V-band clamps so will be easy to add or swap over sections.. Will also have a removable cat for street use (probaly 5" 100 cell cat). The exhaust is another new frontier on subarus in Perth anyway.. Heres some pics i got sent:
