IMO GT wings are probably functional but look ridiculous on anything but a dedicated race car.
So that leaves us with the standard STI wing which actually produces reasonable downforce and stability at speed....an good idea would be to probably add a Gurney flap, but there was only one mob making them for GD wings and they no longer manufacture them. I also think it is a good idea to add a central upright to stop vibration since the standard wing blade vibrates like buggery at any sort of speed.

You can get complete carbon fibre replacement wings which arent that heavy at all. But as said previously no benefit on a tarmac car which mine is.

The GT wing will only be put on when the car is being tracked, i will keep the s202 wing for other duties, so although it dosent look pretty its functional. Thats what im trying to achieve..

I dont much like them either fag. When are you ever getting sideways at 150kms/hr anyway? Not like a wing will stop the scare at collie.
A GT wing has got nothing to do about drifting more so it keeps the rear end more stable with downforce so that you can enter corners and exit at faster speeds before u loose the arse end.. This will definately help in tracks like collie and barbagello.

But the important thing is to make sure that there is very little drag co-efficient hence trying to find a wing that has actually got some decent testing..

Agreed they are modelled in CAD but without every other piece of information pertaining to the performance characteriestics of the wing they are basically useless.
ie ride height, undertray's, winglets etc

Tino...

Get yourself a copy of Ansys/Fluent. It's the software I used for my PhD research (which was essentially making curvy wind tunnels).
http://www.ansys.com/Industries/Aero...namics+&+Noise

Create a mega mesh of your car and desired wings. Buy a bombed computer with bulk ram to complete the simulations on. Have computer powered from treadmill to also achieve 6 pack at the same time!

Now you have a wind tunnel, without the wind tunnel.

Good to see you're happy to have function over form when it comes to the racing wing. Personally I don't mind em so much. It's not the most blasphemous thing you can do to a car, especially when it's for the sake of genuine gain.

Since you are going to do it properly, you know it's gotta be like this high, right? haha
(oh but agreed: for day-to-day = WRC or nothin )

All the big seemingly wing builders have got a wiff of my intentions on NASOIC which makes for an interesting discussion. Some good info out there as i intially thought it was all just wank factor....

So many CFD's...

Fap fap fap.

I like the design in the Aeromotion ones. If I had more than 210hp, I'd love an active one!

Yeh thats what im thinking about, hopefully they may throw a dog a bone and i get one at cost...

But i like the automated adjustments of that wing especially if it takes readings from the ecu etc..
