Yes. Immediate increase in frequency with revs.

Jack the motor up and look from underneath to see if it separates whilst going up, it's usually the round oil filled GTB Liberty ones that give the bad knocking problem like on Sam's & Kim's cars, sounded exactly like a big end & told by two different so called Subi experts to change motors, Sam's motor was a bit shagged but Kim's was perfect, only to find out as the motor was lifted out & half the mount stayed on the X member.

To see if the mounts are okay or not. You need to prop up one side of the engine to stretch the mount. If the interlocking plates touch, then the mount is dead.

Try to take a photo from the side so you can see the rubber part stretch.

If you only have a jack. Put it under the sump, but with a block of soft wood between the sump and jack so you dont damage the sump.

Nope the interlocking plates do not touch I can't see any movement in them what so ever... The mount looks pretty worn out so i wouldn't rule it out completely.

How far can i raise the engine? I saw it lifting up a good 5cm but it was pulling the car up with it... Mounts doing their job?
