CEL for knock sensor will only come on if the knock sensor is faulty on the OEM ECU.

tenagah all the way , i got a EJ207 last year when i frew a big end , i also have a MY99 , ask abdus for the luke special (cheap ass )
It costed me around 5500 - 6000 ish for the short block and install. i also had a 4.444 ratio gear box put in a month before that ... it was a bad run for my car

if you wanted to compair it to my dead small block it was ok ish at first while driving but you would really hear the knocking when changing gears , it got worse after a couple of days then you would hear it all the time.

Problem fixed. It was the big end bearing on cylinder 3. Metal shavings everywhere - both from the bearing and crank.

There looked to be very little damage to the block or pistons but no point machining the crank, getting new bearings etc so I purchased a 2nd hand EJ20 block with all the internals... runs great now

Thanks for all your help guys. I'll leave the video up - it might help someone out in the future.

Don't wait for the video just take it to a workshop asap and don't drive on boost until you identify and fix it.
