I had a exact banging going on in my engine 6 months ago ... it drove for awhile but ended up seizing.
engine mount = wishful thinking

hahaha drugs, wishful thinking... neither's gonna help!

My money was on big end bearing from the start. Me and a few mates were betting on it and these were the bets for what the sound was caused by:

1) BEB (me)
2) Main Bearing
2) Dropped valve
3) Damaged rocker
4) Piston Ring
5) Cracked Piston
6) "The whole car coz rexes are shit and i should've bought a V8" (mate with ss ute) - that bastard!!!

maybe its the rear exhaust mount... better add that to the list...

I reckon it's a heat shield.........for sure!

I would have it rebuilt (if possible) just to be on the safe side though......

Just a quick question guys: How is this knocking not setting off the knock sensor??? I had it replaced 6 months ago when the car ran really poorly, but i did get a CEL... why isn't there one now?

Or was the CEL to say that there was an error with the knock sensor rather than to say that it was detecting knock?

Does the check engine light come on when the knock sensor detects knock or when there is a fault with the sensor itself????
