It requires power to run the 50:50 split and unpowered it is full rear.

Just defaults to the opposite of what you think.

Must be the inner bogan, but I think if it 'loses' power it defaults to skids mode

Rich, if you havent already, check out the episode of Best Motoring from January (i think, possibly Decembers). Evo X v Evo IX v Pig STi v 08 STi.

08 STi > rest.

Admittadly its the Jap version, but the differences would be fuck all time-wise.

Well, as I have an 08 STi, I thought I would answer the original question posted - rather than the rantings I read before me.
I had an MY03 STi before (stock) and I can tell you there is a huge difference. Especially when in 3rd doing around 60, the thing has a sort of growl that sounds prime-evil (sic) through those four tips. Cornering hard when the centre diff is locked destroys any understeer as compared with it in auto.
Talk about interest though. Every man and his dog gives it a headturn on the road.

Only concern I've had is with the DCCD. When left (acidentially) in the LOCK position, turning a full lock circle some really funny noises come from the car and it sort of stops moving like it just jumped out of gear. The booklet actually says that this is normal - but it doesn't give you confidence.

Anyway. Car is fricken brill. Beautifully finished and is a step ahead of the outgoing model. Might be a bit fatter, but is is faster. Modding will make it even faster.

I've arranged for an ECUTek tune and exhaust. Keeping with the original design, Maximum Motorsport are making the exhaust quad tipped.

Congrats on the 08 STI there Beernuts.

Mine when the DCCD is in Locked position also makes what sounds to be unhealthy noises when full lock turning.

I was also told that this was normal but i now never full lock turn while the DCCD is in lock mode.

Any pics of the rest of the beast?

8K redline FTW and a nice small amount of km on the clock there as well.

Have fun causing all sorts of damage turning full lock with a locked diff.

Do you work in Malaga, Beernuts?
Because i see you sold a silver 03 STi, and i used to see one being slung around my area. I work on Beringarra Ave.
If so, we crossed paths the other day! I was driving my brother's white Evo IX..
Car looks phat...very phat.
