well after reading some of wheels mag i can't believe what they say, i read they recorded a 5.8 sec 0 - 100 in the 08 STI and a 1/4 in 14??. They must have pretty fukn shit drivers to record a 0- 100 close to 6 seconds and 1/4 in 14s in the new 08STI I was pretty skeptical at first over the 08 STI preformance but I think thats way off, the 08 STI recorded a 0- 100 in 4.8 seconds and a 1/4 mile of high 12s. The previous models have been claimed to do 0 - 100 in 5.2 secs being few tenths slower then the new model. I guess the hatch is a personal opinion but the 08 STI does not dissappoint speedwise http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydF1z7k0GnE

plus the guys on Best Motoring really do drive it like they stole it, look how brutal they launch the car nevertheless i personally like the new STI, and im sure u can knock a few tenths of the Wheels magazine times given a decent launch |

um well if america have the same 2.5L i think its is under 5 seconds?
Here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gn0Uk...eature=related Edmunds claim they got 0 - 60mph at 4.5 with the 2.5 L i mean every other mag seems to have quoted a low 13 or 13.5 at least. yeah that is a very brutal launch, driving it that way often could just about garruntee a gearbox failure

I dont really think that any of those launches are brutal. IMHO a good launch is a launch with a very slight amount of wheel spin off the line up to say 30km/h untill they grip.
I think aslong as you arent running rspecs, or your tyres at 20km/hr the gearbox should be ok... I still think that the 2.0 would have been a better engine for australia though, who wants massive low down torque? it's a STI. Quote:

well im guessing its personal thing, well i do enjoy abit of low down torque myself, I think i would prefer the 2.5 for daily driving, i soppose it makes it pleasant to drive.
But a 0- 60mph at 4.5 secs isn't bad for the 2.5L

Rev limit is what Bruce said
Engine knock rpm to be confirmed! Low down torque makes it better for round town - confirmed
