The 8 k's on the odo. Would they be upon pick up or upon arrival home with the new toy? I've always wondered what the norm was for taking delivery of a brand new car!

Sorry to get you all excited. This is a picture I took of the JDM 08 STi when I was in Tokyo for the launch back in November.

For those that don't know, the AUS spec rev limit is at 8,000 rpm

Car looks phat...very phat.
Yep, I'm in Malaga. I've sold the silver 03 STi (traded). Hmmm, that "slinging'"couldn't have been me - I'm a good boy!

Yeah, I think I saw you as well.

i have a 98 STI R box in my 99 forri, bolted straight up, they have 4.444 ratios so you may have to change your diff, i can 100% confirm that with the dccd left uplugged with no controller they run 65% rear 35% front, great fun in the wet or on loose gravel in a wagon! feels like 50/50 on a dry road, but if you light it up you'll get a bit of rear spin, you can get a neetronics aftermarket controller to run upto 50/50 split, these controllers are pretty smart & wire into your stock ecu, you can program it (the speed sensor effectively switches it) back to 65 rear 35 front when you slow right down to go into carparks and get full lock action, i'm surprised the stock sti dccd controller doesn't do this, the 50/50 lock is best for belting around on gravel roads or if its pissing down

now back on topic, i've yet to even see an 08 sti on the roads so i'm gonna hold my opinion off until i get to drive one

Quite correct. My point was that the JDM has a big '9' and the Aus only has a big '8' on the dial.

The redline on AUS is 6700 to 8000
The redline on JDM is 8000 to 9000

Go figure.

The thing that got me was the pricing. In Japan, the sticker price is for an 08 STi (std spec) is 3,200,000 YEN. Loosely converted is around $34k. How does Subaru Australia justify the other $34k (inc the d.d, o.r.c etc).

Go to http://forum.wrxownersclub.com.au/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=96 for some more pics of the STi in Tokyo
