Start and go, it's about 2km of slow winding roads out of my suburb onto the main road, and then I still drive grandma spec for about ten minutes before boosting.

Also, you can't warm your bloody gearbox up by idling in the garage! :P

How long do you warm your car up for before you drive it? Going from some replies I've seen in other threads, it ranges from not at all to 15 minutes.

I don't warm mine up at all.

Once my car is started, about 5 seconds later its rolling out of the garage, and 30 seconds later its out on the road (by the time I wait for traffic to drive past).

I drive it nicely, light throttle and keep the revs down until the car is at operating temp, then I drive it normally.

So...how do you do it?
same same..

If Im not in a hurry I'll let it warm up just idling..

I have a new method now, because after reading on here im a bit paranoid. I dont want to be running my motor at all at cold temps.

Every night before i got to bed, I drain the oil. when i get up in the morning, I have a set of heat lamps that i direct at the engine from both the top and the bottom to evenly distribute heat all around, meanwhile, I put the oil i drained last night in the microwave for 10 minutes on a low heat - careful not to burn it. pour the oil in and start her up.

This way saves heaps of wear and tear from using a cold engine...

Keep it under 3k in the subi's (2.5 in the ute) and go light on the throttle for the first 10 mins.

Turn it on when I go to bed at night and let it idle overnight, its usually ready to go in the mornings.
