The way I read in to this is that it would be the same as the current yellow sticker scheme. The police officer only has to SUSPECT something is not safe / road legal to issue a sticker...the car can be brand new and stock standard off the showroom floor but it can still be given a sticker.

One would hope that you get an opportunity to defend your good name before having to waste time off work and money to get a certificate saying the car is okay.

Can you imagine how annoyed you would be if you just went through it all and then got pulled over AGAIN?!?!

Pretty irritating, i thought we were innocent until proven guilty? Why should I have to spend money to prove the police wrong?

Given the so called costs of this test and there only being 1 place in Perth that can do it, where does the line get drawn when you are innocent?

Time off + $500-$1000 in testing just for emmisions? Then you'd have to go over the pits too. All because you are suspected of something...

I really hope a lawyer out there starts to have a field day with this one.

even if you are proven innocent you still lose ya car for however long and have to pay the towing fees... as far as im aware no one has yet been reimbursed for those if they get an innocent result.

APPARENTLY the DPI is going to allow KEC to pass or fail the car, and if it passes, the diagnostic port is sealed with a sticker so the pit guys know the ECU hasn't been tampered with.

F*cking LOL is all I have to say to that....they can seal it with concrete for all I care, as long as they don't find my MoTeC connector hidden under the dash
