4.44 is the strongest of the 5 speeds by far, depends on your budget but they will take a fair bit of hammering.

Remember it's the brakes that slow the car down, not the engine/transmission.
This is THE single most issue we have at AHG Driving Centre when doing the V8 drives... most punters want to use the change down to slow the car which only results in compression lock-up...fortunately we have another brake pedal on the passenger's side so you can help them wash off speed to a degree.
It's good that you're heel-and-toeing...maybe just wash off a bit more speed with the stoppers and blip the throttle more on the down change. The shift RPM should be around the 5500 to 6000 to make the best use of the torque band.

lol i think you need to do your learners licence again mate. You think you would learn a lesson from the 1st time you blew the gearbox. Leave the double clutch down shifting to the pros and use the middle pedal between the clutch (left) and accelerator (right) to stop the vehicle.
Have you thought of selling the car and buying something a little more suitable for you ie an automatic hyndai excel.
Good luck with what ever way you go, im sure your keeping the gearbox companies happy
