buy an sti, took my mate for a drive in mine he has a 04 wrx opposed to my 04 sti

he is now planning the sale of the wrx to upgrade

goes into corners so nicely (not that the wrx doesnt) more agressive overall

and in my opinion you are better buying the better model for that diffrence then pumping money into it

but... everyone to there own

50k worth of mods was it? for an extra 20k? and that's when it was new - probably only 7-10k difference second hand, definately seems worth it.
Seeing as I've already spent $$$ on rims, springs, exhaust, then tuning next, shiiiiiit, the dollars spent is getting close to that price difference already and I haven't really done shit. I still have poxy brakes and a 5sp transmission (the gear box alone must be about 6-7k eh??). That sti is looking mighty good right now.

Take a look at this website

http://www.cars101.com/subaru/impreza/wrxsti2005.html

This is an UNOFFICIAL specs page for the 2005 wrx's. (other years listed too)
I don't know how accurate it is, but it does list a lot of differences between the two.

Given that most people will never use the full potential of WRX parts, I fail to see the need for all the excesses people go to in modding.

Brakes = Stock 4 potters with good pads, good discs and good fluids will stop everyone for most light trackwork that people do.

Engine = EJ205 / EJ255 can handle a good amount of boost and it is easy to put on a VF34 style turbo to have STi perfomance.

Swaybars and braces would be changed on either a STi or a WRX.

Sure if you have the spare coin get a STi. If you don't, you can get a very good performing WRX for a lot cheaper.

(This is refering to the 99% of use that a car will see)
